Is breadmaking in a conventional oven any cheaper

OK I need some help, I'm trying to make my own bread and I can't seem to get it to rise properly. Tried in the airing cupboard and that seemed to work a bit, then realised I have a bread cooking function on my cooker but it still didn't seem to rise properly. My poor hubby is putting up with my attempts but they are a bit stodgy!!
Any ideas as to what I'm doing wrong?
Also where's the best/cheapest place to get bread tins?:heart2: Charlie born Aug 2007 :heart2: Reece born May 2009

Hi I have found that the dry fast action yeast is the best and easiest for hand baking so if you arent using that try some. Second make sure you use luke warm water (not hot or cold) otherwise it stops the yeast making the bread rise. Make sure you add salt as this helps the process .Most importantly kneed your bread for 10 minutes, allow it to double in size then re-kneed for a few minutes before you put it in your tins. Allow it to rise again whilst your oven is warming up,about half an hour. I usually do some baking whilst my dough is rising as the warmth is a good way of helping it along , I dont have anywhere warm other than the top of the oven.
This is my recipe for basic bread which I find gives great results:D .
750g strong white bread flour
1 sachet of fast action yeast (7g)
450ml luke warm water
1 dessert spoon of salt
25g butter or replace 25g of water with 25ml veg/sunflower oil (easier than butter!)
Make sure your oven is the correct temp as this is important. I purchased an oven thermometer as my oven tends to be too hot ,only about £3! bake for about 25 minutes at 220c.:j
