2008 Corsa £135 Fully comp!! Wrong price??

Hi
Ive been searching for the cheapest insurance quote i can find for our new 2008 Vauxhall Corsa 1.6 Sri Turbo when we pick it up(Which we haggled down to £10339 from dealer price of £14325 :j Plus £2200 trade in for our Focus) Cheapest quote i'd found until now was £410 Fully comp on Confused.
But thought i'd try Compare The Market and to my surprise in the finished search were 3-4 quotes all around £135-£140 mark
Pretty obvious that these prices are wrong , but i've recieved emails from some of the insurers with reference numbers and the very low price quoted so that i can buy at that price.
I was thinking that i may chance it and try to get the insurance at that price, but what if i buy it and they realise a few weeks later and decide to ask for more money due to the price mistake or cancel the insurance
Could they do this ?
What does everyone else think about this ?
Thanks in advance for any replies

Why do you think they are wrong?
There are always wide variations in quotes from different companies for the same risk when getting car insurance comparisons.0 -
Prettyflyguy, You must a lot of driving experiance to get a quote that low. Isnt that car Group 16. I have one and my insurance is £175 from IbuyEco.
thanks

Lowest I was offered for my Corsa ten years older that yours was £213... but I'm a newish driver.
Whatever you go for - don't forget to go through Quidco (or similar) and get cashback!! (I'm getting £100 on mine - yippee.)0 -
Carefully read through the particulars of the quote and make sure everything you want/need is there....ie protected NCB, courtesy car, low excess etc etc.
Whenever I use a screenscraper site I don't fully trust that everything is as I need it so I always end up calling the co anyway just to run through the quote particulars
Like Quentin said, quotes can vary very much between co's. This year when I called around for quotes for one of our cars the prices varied from £400 (ish) to £1500 (ish):heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -

I Tried a quote through 2 of the companys own websites and they came back at over £650, This is what made me think that there must be some sort of glitch with the price on CompareTheMarket.com
I've spent a good few hours online looking for the best possible quotes and rang a few brokers but £410 was the cheapest i got.
My current insurance broker Adrian Flux has qouted £653.50 with £300 excess  I've tried a few quotes with my old Focus and they stay round about the same as now £330, So for a car with higher insurance group to be half the price is strange.Excited wrote:Prettyflyguy, You must have a lot of driving experiance to get a quote that low. I will have had my driving license 7 years this September, Have 6 years no claims and 3 points on the license for an SP30
and i'm 27 years old
I tried IBuyEco's site and they quoted £666 and odd pence (Not a good omen) I think they were one of the insurers that came back on the search though with a very low price, around £140

If the £135 policy you have been offered (and confirmed separately) meets your needs, then you have nothing to lose by taking it out.
If subsequently they come back to you with sorry it was a mistake, then at that time you will be able to decide whether you still want the policy (and pay any extra required), or want to drop it and start again.
They wouldn't be able to penalise you for their error.0 -
I think it seems quite strange that all the quotes from 'Compare the Market ' were about the same price.Just wondering if something was missed out or not working properly on their website. But as others say take it and see what happens (as long as they are reputable companies).Good Luck.0

I would advise you to check the quote thoroughly to make sure they is no mistake on the information you have provided and nothing missing on the coverage.
Yes there are terms under which the company can cancel the contract jsut as individuals can cancel.
Usually they have to give notice - check the terms and conditions.
I think it's pretty rare though.
Once scenario where it might happen is a computer mistake.
Admiral did this a short while ago.0 -

Be very careful using comparison sites, their forms try to include the answers to every questions asked by the insurer. I've got quotes before and found the details I entered in the comparison are not what actually shows up on the insurers site. There could also be questions that have been missed or interpreted slightly differently depending on the insurer.
Check and double check the details on the insurers site and ensure they are correct, as the price sounds as if the risk has not been accurately assessed.0 -

Not all the quotes were the same price, Just the top 4 that were round about the same price. The other 10-15 results ranged from £460 to over £1000.
I think i will phone the insurers direct and try for their low quote, Surely if there is a mistake they should be able to see it and let me know that over the phone ?
Thanks again everyone
