Broadband with an NTL line

I am with ntl for my home phone - before you say anything: I know - I also hate them with every fibre of my being. I want to get broadband but all the providers I have seen require me to have a BT line. I would rather not get my broadband with ntl because it wont work and it will turn me into the homicidal maniac I become every time I have to speak to those despicable cretins in their customer services department.
Can anyone help?

Nope, it is impossible to get any other BB provider if you only have a NTL phone line.0

Altarf, are you sure about that?
I have never heard of AOL on a cable line?0 -
Just had NTL Broadband put in - all went OK - so far - and at £9.99 for 1MB couldn't resist - compared with their £13.50 for dialup. Maybe I was just lucky - but I agree they can be a pain to talk to - if you can stay on the phone waiting that long
Big plus with NTL is all those spam phone calls for landline phone deals:- as soon you say 'NTL line' they hang up. Every cloud etc.0 -

http://www.aol.co.uk/products/comparison.html Have a look at the bottom of AOL Broadband Gold.
"What do I need to get it?"
"A broadband-enabled BT phone line, or broadband-enabled ntl cable"
It has been around for a couple of years -

Called NTL on 0800 052 2000.
Said that I was reviewing the options relating to BB (BroadBand, NOT Big Brother!), and mentioned that changing to another supplier would mean I'd have to cancel the 'phone too.
Asked how long the termination period was, and was told 30 days, then the bloke said "before we go down that line sir, perhaps there's something we could do"!!
Basically, I have stayed on the 2Mb service but instead of paying £24.99, I'll get it for £12.50 per month for the next three months.
Cheers to the O.P.0 -
I agree, NTL are a right royal pain.
BUT, cable BB beats ADSL BB any day in my book (don't shout at me, it is only my opinion!!!)
I was with NTL for BB, but went over to ADSL coz the deals were so much better. I have never been happy with the quality of BB, and I shall be going back to NTL when my current contract finishes. And at £9.99 per month, it is hard to beat.I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0
