I need accomodation for one night (4th April) nearby to the Cahnnel Tunnel. I looked up the Ibis Calais Coquelles all looking good until it mentioned the rooms were for 2 adults and 1 child unless I am reading it wrong.
Anyone help with alternative accomodation, just good, clean, pref parking and not too far from the tunnel?
Thanks a million

A quick search came up with this one which seems to have availibilty for a family room 4 people for your date. 115 euros or 109 for a family promotion room. Breakfast not included. Suppose it depends on what your budget is!

Have you tried Gites de France for B &B accomodation...?0 -

It's offering a family room for 4 people for 89euro per night and it's available 4th April.Member #7 SKI-ers Club

I wouldn't recommend the Mercure (George V) in Calais, unless it's had a complete refurbishment. It's the least popular of the hotels used by colleagues. The most popular hotels with colleagues are the Meurice, Holiday Inn Coquelles and Suitehotel - my colleagues spend up to 4 nights a week stuck in Calais hotels so their opinions are probably more reliable than someone who has syed just one night in Calais.
It's really hard to find rooms for 4 in Calais, or anywhere else in France. I know the Cottage hotel may be worth a look.

You could consider 2 rooms at a real budget hotel, like the Bonsai (less comfortable than a Travelodge, but fine for a night). There is also the Etap, Ibis and Suitehotel (all 3 together in Coquelles near the tunnel entrance) where you could smuggle an extra person in to the room. The Suitehotel rooms are large and actually take 4. It's where my husband stays when working in Calais and he really likes it there. He says it would be easy to smuggle an extra person into this complex of hotels as they are all connected and you can use facilities of each of the hotels, so no-one would know which one oyu are actually staying in. The Suitehotel is more up-market than a Travelodge but probably better value and more spacious than the horrid Mercure/George V.
PS The Sole Meuniere is a great restaurant and ideally situated for the ferries right in the heart of the old town, so it's a good suggestion for a meal, no idea what there rooms are like though.0 -

We often go via Calais as the Cherbourg boats have gone expensive. Try and find a website called B & B Hotels. They are motels mainly around the coast, one is at Coquelles near the tunnel and is around 50e a night room only, but they do provide breakfast if required. We book for 2 adults and 2 children and they are modern built motels with parking. The family rooms and have a mezzanine, so you have a double room with twin beds above the shower and loo. They give you a map and you prebook and they charge if you don't turn up, but can cancel if you change your plans. Good luck.:j0

Someone has recommended that chain on here before, as one of the few places to find family rooms for 4 instead of 3 in France.

There are now 2 B&B hotels in Calais, the newest one has the name of an area to the south of Calais which is situated around the motorway which goes from the tunnel at Coquelles to Calais ferry port, so good for the tunnel and ferries too perhaps.0 -
Novotel always offer two adults with 2 kids in room free - some rates with breakfast. There are a couple near Calais."...IT'S FRUITY!"0

Some Ibis hotels also have family rooms for 4, but you have to ring the hotel direct to book, they don't show up on the website.0
