I batch up 'crumbs'--the bit where you rub in the marg to flour--& freeze it. It's easy then to take out what you need to make a crumble or bit of pastry.

I keep meaning to ask me muvva for her flaky pastry recipe. I know she used to freeze the lard & marg, then grate it into the flour...& made some beautiful sausage rolls:p

Can you direct me to the brownie recipe please? I keep losing the Recipe Thread....& I could have sworn I'd put it back when I had it last:D

    Morning all,

    Waves all round.:hello:

Wanted to fill you in on how I got on with my weekend make/bake freeze fest. Freezer now contains:
    • 4 portions tomato dahl,
    • 5 portions corned beef hash,
    • 9 portions beef and onion pie (would've been 10, but OH snaffled one!)
    • 7 portions penne pasta.
    • Also made a big batch of chicken curry with coconut in the SC from a whole Halal chicken, but haven't put it in the little tubs yet!

    Good times!:j

Hope all your budgetting, meal planning etc is going well. We can do it! Together we're an army! ;)

  • Morning, Not doing too bad this month so far!! Have huge admiration for all those who spend significantly less than me, it's soooo hard, I meal plan, don't eat any processed foods or very little, cook from scratch etc.. etc.. but still... Anyway am now off to make som of Twinks hobnobs for the first time as they sound gorgeous, make a banoffee pie for MIL as it's her b'day and coming round for tea (dd making tea at school - fingers crossed it goes well!)

Oh I know its a bit delayed but TheBees was asking about juice containers My two have had Sigg juice containers for years they are a bit battered now but have never leaked. I nearly fell of my chair (on hearing the price-£9 each!!!!) when OH appeared with them back from a trip about 6 or 7 yars ago but I have never bought any since so, have been a great buy , we got them at an airport but you can get them online and at some camping shops.

£9.82 spent today. I needed grapes (aldi, 3 packs), porridge, shredded wheat, coffee, milk and cooking margerine. Doesn't seem much for the price does it?
