Mobile Phone 3 network any good in NI?

I have recently joined the 3 Network (January 07) and to date have had no problems with their service to date. Was a little worried about 'so called bad reports' but have had no issues to date.
I was advised by staff that where there is coverage for the o2 network there will be coverage for the three network!

My wife and I have mobiles on the 3 network for 18 months, we are from L'Derry and have a caravan in Bushmills and we never had any problems at all. I now am on T-Mobile and my wife on O2 this past month and we both have had a few problems connecting.

Hi there
If you use your 3 phone close to the border does it switch to 3 Ireland and do you get charged for the calls you make or receive, indeed if you go down to Dublin are you charged or does it come out of your allowance as Ireland is a "Three like Home" country.
Thanks.I'd like to teach the World to sing in perfect Harmony

can't speak for the phone but I have 3 broadband (via a dongle) and it is def free in 'three like home' countries, I've tried it in RoI and in Italy and it worked fine in both...no charges at all beyond the regular monthly charge0

That would be great belfastgirl23, as I also have one of those 3 Broadband dongle, but have never received reception in Donegal!!!!0

My sister & husband live over the border, he has 3ROI mobile number, she has as 3 uk mobile number, so for me in NI phoning her on her mobile to my mobile it doesnt cost me anything!
Also for her phoning the husband its free (in the north or south)0 -
on the subject of 3 network ...... I live in Coleraine area and have problems with texts ... if I get sent a longish text I receive 2nd half and then a week later the 1st half .... this really annoys me ... (it is usually from people with O2) .... and I am only halfway through a 18 month contract!!!! Does anyone else have this problem with 3 ??? or can it be solved ... have rang customer services and have problems with the operator getting understood and getting through to them about texting and they usually fob me off or put me on hold for long periods!0

Me neither - mind you it probably doesn't help that I'm in the back end of beyond when I'm there! No reception for my 3 phone either, I'm put onto O2 and charged a fortune.Norn Iron Club member 273:beer:0 -
Well I guess I should add that when I used the dongle in italy I was somewhere a bit remote and it wasn't exactly speedy
and sometimes I had to take it out to the terrace to get it to work but it did work and it was free... 0 -
just make sure when you are in ROI you are on 3 ire or you will get charged roaming rates ,but I have found the 3 ire reception is very good around Dublin0
