Hi there. I think their coverage is OK. I only know one person that uses 3. However if you're looking to use their video service then it's not available in most parts of NI yet. There's probably a coverage map on their website.
Is the phone for business use or personal use ......... or both?0 -
Hi Greentea,
I changed to 3 in January 2005 and must say I don't regret it. Not only do I receive good coverage in N.I. but when I was on holiday in Cavan I still had coverage on 3,unlike Vodaphone which just died as soon as I hit Enniskillen.0 -
I've been using them for 2 months. No probs with 2g coverage for calls, (had it as far south as Carlingford so far), and no probs with 3G Video calls in either Belfast or Newry areas. Not one dropped call yet either.I haven't been asked to tell you that I'm the Board Drunk for this board. As the night wears on, my posts will become worse, with simple spelling mistakes, inane ramblings, and a blatant disregard for the truth. I have no authority to do anything, so there's no point asking or telling me. If you see me past midnight, please tell me to get my coat and order me a taxi.

The phone is for business use. Video service isnt important.

I've been with 3 for over four months now and so far I have had no problems. Coverage is excellent IMO.0

It must just be me then.......
My experience of 3 is that they're absolutely awful.
If I managed to stay connected for more than 5 minutes I'd done well (and that was on a 2G call, regardless of where I phoned from. BTW I live in Coventry, so hardly the middle of nowhere!).
When I tried to cancel, 3 made it as difficult as possible for me to leave (it took 5 phone calls!)
When they eventually terminated my contract, they still tried to keep billing me beyond my termination date.
I switched to Orange. I pay a bit more and have less minutes a month, but I've never, ever regretted it (and no I don't work for a mobile phone company).
At least if Orange drop your connection you get credited back 1 min of talk time. When I asked 3 if they had a similar policy, they told me that they didn't and had no plans to introduce one.
I guess whoever the operator is, you'll find some people who have good experences and some who have bad.0 -
Does anybody have any idea what the coverage is like in the North on the mobile phone network "3"?
Would appreciate all comments.

Depends what sort of coverage you mean? Also what you mean north, which to me is Inverness and beyond.
I believe that 3 use the O2 network where their own coverage is poor or non-existant but that's only for normall calls and texting not for the fancy video stuff.0 -
Hi, Im from the Mnachester area and have a 3 contract and the GL 8138 phone.
Its not great....but its not that bad either.
my calls do get cut off all the time especially if you're speaking for more than a few minutes. i can't always get through first time when i'm ringing out- it tells me 'service unavailable', but usually get through on 2nd or 3rd time.
ALL my calls are not very clear-quite faint. Really have to hold the phone to my ear and even then its not crisp and clear. Forget about having a conversation outside-on the main road-really struggle to hear. you cant have a decent conversation and you just end up really frustrated.
Having said that, i do have a signal nearly all the time. It is weak at times and people have told me that sometimes they ring me and they go straight to the voicemail even though my phone is switched on.
Also, I guess it depends on the phone...my phone now is much better than my old 3 phone-cant remember the name-motorola, had a massive screen-it was touch screen with a pen thingy).
Hope this helps...Respond to every call that excites your spirit.0 -
