Sorry, bad news I think. Most probably your hard drive has gone. You'll have to buy another one and install all your software and data. But looks like you'll have lost all the data as well., unless it was backed up.
However, before buying a new hard drive (around £40 - £50) I would try and install Windows again but you must have the original disks.

bla bla bla isn't very helpful, if you print the actual error message you may get a better response it could be the disk but also could be gfx card, memory, motherboard, psu infact almost anything.0

I hope your computer is not following the advice in your signature ......

Can you safe boot press F8 etc > as said - the message is there to helpRich people save then spend.

Last time I had similar problems (not too long ago infact, BSOD, reboots, checkdisk runs etc) I think it was down to some corrupted drivers. System restore seemed to fix it in my case. Not saying that's your problem but just to emphasise what Blacksheep said that it could be practically anything, even just software related."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

As said above it could be a lot of things, but ofter it is caused by the HDD starting to die. For peace of mind I would back up anything of importance on the machine next time you have it running.0

It could also simply be that scandisk is wrongly fired up at each boot instead of on demand, e.g. because after running it is not flagged as having running and not having to be run on next boot.
I'd start by downloading a program called Autoruns, run it, and disable scandisk in the boot section and see if the PC boots fine this way.

Hmm, it appears that you're running a pirate version of Windows. I'd be chasing the shop you originally bought the machine from to find out why it's not a genuine copy and for them to do something about it.0

Or if the motherboard has changed it's could still be genuine but reached its hardware change limit for activations. A simple phone call to microsoft by going through the activation procedure should sort it."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

Agree with Superscaper - changing too many components in a computer will up set the MS validation checking - just make the call to MS - tell them you had to change the MB - may be an issue if its OEM s/w with the MB - but just tell MS the processor everything else is the same -
nothing to worry about they get 1000's calls a day ...Rich people save then spend.
