Post left on doorstep

Three times in a month my mother has ordered something from Amazon and the postie has left it on the door step. She has asked him not to do it and also emailed customer services but neither care. We don't live in a bad area but i won't say putting outside our door for up to 6 hours is a safe place.

What should we do?

Make sure when you order you ask that the item be signed for?
  • That means paying extra for delivery though and we are only in during the day on saturdays. We don't mind picking it up from the post office though :)

    crikey!
when you order something, you often get a space to leave a message for the delivery people (i.e i always write leave next door). could you not write in there not to leave it outside, and that you will collect from PO if you're not in? otherwise probably best to leave a note like butlers said
Wins since June: iPod shuffle 1gb, Samsung g800, cinema ticket, lush retro giftbox, 2x mp3 downloads, a big box of food (???)
  • Contact amazon after you should have received your goods, tell them it wasn't delivered and get another one free.
Nothing to see here, move along.
  • i would complain to the post office - your postman should be taking the parcel back to the sorting office if you arn't in -

I work for RM & we were "reminded" again last week that items must not be doorstepped.

Unfortunately, at every office there are some staff who think this instruction does not apply to them.

Try ringing your local delivery office & telling them about it.

speak to the delivery office manager and complain as that is unacceptable

if you order an item and it " goes missing" it would take ages for the company to make enquiries beofree they would replace or refund you for the item

i had to wait 30 days when i ordered something from hmv which never turned up before they sent me a replacement item
