Orange Charge for Replacing Faulty Handset

Have a Sony K700i handset which has a dodgy navigation button which is irritating when trying to scroll the menus. Luckily thinks I, I have Orange Care which I thoughtfully took the precaution of taking out at the time of purchase to guard against loss or damage to my phone. Rang Orange this morning and they will gladly replace the handset (as early as this evening if I wish) but will charge me a £15 admin charge (as detailed in T & C's of course). I appreciate that the charge is detailed in the guide (not that I read it at the time) and a same day delivery is quite good. Am I right to feel a bit peeved at paying £5/month on top of my bill, only to be charged when I claim?
According to the T & C's, the charge will only be waived if the fault is reported within 6 months of purchase, I'm on about 6.5 months since purchase.

common fault on this model (and t68/t610) can be fixed free under warrenty at cpw walk in repair center or any other autherised repair center.
dont know where abouts in leic you are but main repair center is CRC in stapleford 10 mins m1 j25.0 -
Thanks, I'm in Melton Mowbray so Stapleford is not too far. I'll look up the number and get in contact. Cheers0

CRC is 01159218000
you can also send to them by post i think
although if youve got a cpw nearby with a walk in repair dept it would be a lot quicker0 -

there are no T&C relating to warrenty on the phone in the first 12 months, these T&C are your Orange care, demand Orange collect and deliver a temp phone as this is obviouly a common fault and SonyE will get billed for the repair not Orange and they should know it!!If I helped or saved you money - Thank me
If I helped you spend some money - spank me
If I done both - :lipsrseal me:eek:0 -
i worked for orange for two years and my advice would be to ask to speak to a manager if you are not happy, don't stop at the first manager, as they are a no one really, its the team leader or the section manager you want, stay polite and be firm, most of the time they will give in.

hi, i also have a k700i which switches itself off every now and again,i also have orange insurance,
a couple of weeks ago i dropped my phone, and although it still works, the menu's now are a bit "mental" sometimes and it turns itself off during calls now and again,
if i use my orange insurance will i get a new phone, same type(or reconditioned ) or will i get to pick a different one?
i understand that i will have to pay £15 fee,but how long will i be without a phone???
thanks....0
