    Well done, valk_scot!

I've mentioned this before but I went through the same rigmarole with 3 local stores last Summer. Just thought it may help those of you who might think some of us have it easy with coupon-friendly stores, it wasn't that simple at first last year:

Store 1 took a while for cashiers to get the message from Management (who I spoke with a couple of times, really raised my profile but I knew the policy had been sent out & seized the moment to strike while the iron was hot so to speak!). But now the cashiers there all know and are great, you can pay for your whole shop in coupons if they are all OK and different.

Store 2 took ages to confirm to me it was OK (a couple of weeks, with me going in & asking every other day). They then introduced the policy but the cashiers panicked each time they saw my coupons & called a Supervisor just to check dates. Finally they admitted defeat last month & decided the policy is too much hassle for them (a Metro) - so it's too much hassle for me to shop there now....:D

Store 3 said no....then yes....now it's no again (from Management). When it was yes they had checked the policy & found the original instruction (which went out to all store last June BTW). But then the 'no' followed with the excuse that the policy 'may have changed'. I tried following this up several times, asking Dundee to phone the store, etc.,

.....then I got fed up and stuck with Store 1 who at least know what they are doing and whose nice cashiers are - usually - delighted to see how much I save. Some even want tips on where to get coupons from, which I gloss over with a vague mention of couponnet and magazines!

Sounds like he was lying to you and hadnt pressed the total button first, if they dont do that then every coupon will be rejected.

Next time if it happens, just politely ask him to press total, then react amazed as every coupon scans fine!
  • Same happened to me.. Isn't it strange? I wish I could understand how the system worked.
10 days ago, I used as many coupons as I wanted. This Monday, I was told I couldn't use any as that policy wasn't the case any more. Tonight though, I carefully put one through, and as that seemed ok I went for a few more. The supervisor knew what I was doing and was perfectly happy.. I ended up self scanning ten pounds worth of coupons, and I think that I could have done more

I remember when an old dragon tried exactly the same dishonest trick with me - she was one of those types who acts like it's coming out of her pay packet. I pointed out that she hadn't pressed total and she said "I've already pressed it" (lying through her teeth!), and I politely said "well can you press it again please, just to make sure" which she reluctantly did, and the coupons scanned fine!

I have been lied to like that as well, and take the same approach as Taxiphil - just ask them to 'press the Total button please'.

I just know there's no way Tesco have introduced a new till system without us all knowing first on here! :D

After some people were saying that if you use your clubcard with MOCs they can trace your usage, I've been using my MOCs but not with the clubcard. On thinking about it, if the till accepts and if the till supervisor OKs it, it is legit, so I should also use my clubcard as well to get points right? What do you peeps do?

I heard today that Tesco are changing their coupon policy from May 1st anyone else heard this ??
  • Nothing about a new coupon policy yet, just an update about checking serial numbers on internet coupons to make sure we don't take photocopies and that they are all different.

I think we would know first, as with most of their new policies, its us that do the staff training most of the time!
