Agreed! Also, I've spoken to some delightful spotty faced youths who've scanned all my coupons no problem.
When I said she looks like she hasn't had a man and lost all her savings I mean she is sourfaced, never smiles, miserable, lol. Inner beauty shines thru as they say. Even a beautiful person looks bad if she is a miserable so and soI can be brown I can be blue I can be violet and sky. This sounds a bit evil but if you are sure that your store take coupon (and only if you are sure), then maybe it'd be fun to let the oldies do the checkout !? the look on their face may just lighten the day.0

There is a lovely young lad at our local tescos (definately a bit spotty!) was so patient and lenient that we put in a customer feedback form saying what a good csa he is! although had rather a snotty old cow yesterday who point blank refused to let us put a single coupon in unless we had bought the said product, politely tried to point out that I actualy knew alot more about the coupon policy than she clearly did , humph shall avoid her in future0

I thought that would be a laugh too, but I was wrong! I tried that approach in 2 stores where I had got the Coupon Policy OK'd with Till Supervisors the week before, more than once:
First Store (an Extra which takes any coupons as long as in date, all different & not Supermarket-logo), I chose a mad looking middle-aged sourpuss. I use a LOT of coupons, save all of them, print all of them, usually have about £15 or £20 pre-sorted and I only buy about £21 of stuff. Anyhoo the old bat moaned, huffed & puffed, spent ages checking the wording of each one, then left her till as she 'went to check the maximum allowed'. Came back & grudgingly scanned them - slowly - trying to embarrass me by causing the queue behind to start tutting at the time taken.
I took all this in my stride - until she asked for more 'real' money than I thought it should be. Paid up and checked my receipt, immediately spotted she had not scanned 2 x £2 (different ones). Absolute cow, she had stolen my coupons for Tesco!! I stood at her till drumming my fingers until she opened it when the next people paid. Asked for my 2 coupons back that 'didn't scan' - she sighed & dug them out straight away, she knew which ones - and I knew she hadn't even tried to scan them!
Second Store: Chose another middle-aged harridan who I knew had always hated the ONE coupon that store used to allow. Confidently told her the policy had changed & I name-dropped the Till Manager who had confirmed it. The result was - my transaction was stopped & saved, and I was marched to the CS desk by 2 staff as the Till manager was on a break and they were certain I was wrong. Lots of in-store phone calls later, staff looking at my coupons & them phoning Dundee (getting the wrong answer again, because Dundee phone staff don't know).
Half an hour later I had to go to collect my kids so left the shopping. Next time in that store, friendly lady Till Manager who had previously agreed the policy told me it was no longer being allowed as Dundee had said you had to buy the product! She knew they were wrong but her Manager didn't - so that was the end of the policy in that store, ever since.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

I went to my local CS desk and asked them their coupon policy a few weeks back. The CS lady did not know all the answers but called for upper management...they didn't really know either, but said they would enquire and phone. Two hours later, they called and explained the whole policy, plus thankd me as there were a few details even they were hazy about.
Fast forwards several weeks, involving numerous visits to Tesco and quite a lot of vouchers. Had the staff been brought up to speed on voucher policy during this time? Err, no. I still had to argue several coupons through the tills. But I always got the thing accepted in the end.
I look upon it as staff training by customer....I should be chargeing £50 per hour consultant fee!Val.0
