Vonage & USB Connected Internet? How mobile is Vonage (via laptop at home and work)?

I have Tiscali Broadband which is connect through a USB cable. I hear that this is not compatable with Vonage. What would I need to do get this compatable. I am not to up on techie lingo - so attempts to keep it in laymans terms would be appreciated.

I would be looking to use Vonage both at my home office (with tiscali) and at work via the network. How realistic would this ideal be? This will be through a laptop?
