Demon offer a static IP - Pretty reasonable too.

Quite an old thread, but just in case anyone encounters this again...
I too was on BT Total Broadband, signed up for 12 months, and I too suddently needed a static IP.
As you found, BT refused to upgrade me to BT Business without me paying off the original contract first.
Basically...I did not give up, spoke to various different BT departments, complained and insisted that they simply switch me over with no penalty.
Eventually they gave in, and did exactly this - cancelled my BT Broadband Contract, and switched me straight over to BT Business (although they did insist I signed up to a new term on the Business account)
So...best policy...perservere and you may get what you want...0
