Oddly enough mine died at 15 months too - the power thing snapped off inside the machine and it was more to replace the motherboard than the machine was worth. I wouldn't buy one again.
I am thinking about this Sony one, same processor, more ram, good sized hard drive and a lovely looking machine (I went and had a look yesterday) 499 less 5% discount voucher on hotukdeals.com and quidco. Available in Currys too - 5% discount plus more cashback

I've also been looking at the sony laptop but am totally confused by the processors available today

If you need a bit of help with the processors look at this list. As far as reliability goes, looking at 'Which', Toshiba are the most reliable followed by Acer, HP and Sony. More people who own Sony would recommend them to a friend but people are twice as satisfied with Toshiba support than Sonys', if that helps?! Certainly from what i've read there do seem to be a few less than favourable comments about Sony support.0

Can't make my mind up between the toshiba and the sony. Sony working out at £458 after discounts and cashback which seems like a cracking price. I paid nearly a grand for my Vaio 3 years ago and it's still going strong.0

I bought 25 Toshiba laptops for our engineers, the last eight were allegedly eligible for £150 cash back (each). Toshiba will not honour the cash back, apparently we had a 2 nanosecond window of opportunity to register. You also have to gather virgin blood at midnight (full moon only) whilst sacrificing a chicken and chanting "we love Toshiba" They won't pay up if you say it in the wrong accent, the moon is waning or it's a picosecond either side of midnight.
Stiffing is what I call it.
Now onto more practical concerns. We can cope with being stiffed from a financial point of view no matter how distasteful we find it morally, however what we can't cope with is a two month turn around on a laptop a couple of months old. I ended up buying another laptop as Toshiba don't give a damn about honouring repair agreements.
All in all they see us as cash cows and don't care if they screw your business over in the process.
AVOID TOSHIBA LIKE THE PLAGUE0 -
Would anyone recommend a good value little/lightish laptop with a 3-5 year warantee at a good price? :-)0
