I know you were talking general areas but for someone not knowing the Dalaman area i thought i would state it was in Icmeler as Marmaris and Icmeler are worlds apart regarding what sort of holiday you want.
I loved Icmeler but hated Marmaris as it was far to touristy and pushy for my liking and your sarcastic smilies are just childish and definetly not needed.

Sometimes it seems this site is more about one-up-man-ship than actually helping out.
Loads of Hotels in Hisaronu are described as Oul, loads of hotels in Olu come under Fetyhie. They just refer to an area.
How far is Marmaris to Dalaman?
How far is Icmeler to Dalaman?

The OP does not appear to have any area in mind at all yet, as we have swung from Marmaris to Kalkan.
Just seemed to me you were being picky for a few dolumus stops.
You did edit it after, but you first response was curt, you didn't need to quote me in it, to expain that Ichmeler is a better beach area just outside the main resort of Marmaris.

that was my first choice..getting deal for Maramis Palace AI for £1299 is this good hotel? i am about to book this in next few mins!

lol it is about helping out thats why i stated it was in Icmeler and not Marmaris.No good telling someone who doesnt know the area its in Marmaris and then for her to hear bad things about Marmaris when Icmeler is totally different.
IMHO that is helping out and if you dont like what i post thats your perogative.
I know for one i would want to know about different resorts in the area i may possible be staying and nowhere did i state that Icmeler was a better beach area although i think it is.

I dont know the Marmaris Palace Hotel but i seem to remember reading some not so good reviews a while back.Have you checked out the reviews etc?

yes checked out reviews which seem a bit mixed. Hotel seems reasonable enough with lots to do for kids and plenty of variety, just making sure its a decent place....

These are just rough estimates.
Icmeler to Marmaris about 8 km
Dalaman to Marmaris about 100km.

There maybe not much distance from Icmeler to Marmaris but the 2 places are completely different.
