I am a mature student but have both desk and lap top computers. Would MS allow it to be installed on two computers, same owner. I already have MS Office Student and Teacher Edition (2003) as that can be installed on more than one computer.

The license on the ultimate steal offer allows this. You can install it on a Desktop and a Laptop (although they don't mind even if its on 2 of the same type)
  • Will i still be able to use it if i get a new computer?

Assuming you uninstall on the old computer, I see no reason why you can't install on a new one?

I need Outlook, so the Home and Office edition is no good. :-(

Why Microsoft didn't include Excell, Powerpoint, Word and Outlook in the home and student edition I have no idea...
Outlook is aimed more as a business e-mail client with Windows Mail / Outlook Express aimed at the home market - hence it not being included in the Home & Student edition of Office. I suspect it is also to discourage small businesses buying this version to get Office on the cheap.

Although I agree that Outlook is useful for home use, it's what I use :)

Should be no problem doing this, you just might have to activate by phone when installing on the new computer. Software licences are usually transferable between computers unless they are OEM licences (which this isn't).

So if I go for the 'steal' deal, I can install it it on two laptops, one for each DD?

Yes that will work. Microsoft have said they are OK with it on the Higher Education Blog.

I have three PCs and the Steal licence let me install it on all three and activate these - anyone else find this? Just how many times can you install Office from the ultimate steal?
