Hey there, this may not help at all...!! if you just want the sat nav...

But you can get TOMTOM sat nav on your normal mobile (assuming it is quite a recent one). You just buy the software (comes like a little memory card) and the a little black box that connects to the satelite. Its great!!! Got from ebay for about £80.

Tom Tom doesn't work on the C550 yet due to the higher screen resolution.

T-Mobile are doing their C500 equivilant - hte SDA - with free Co-Pilot. Failing that any Windows Mobile or Pocket PC edition on the market at the moment will run most sat nav apps.
  • Ive got a Motorola A1000 ...... it is a little on the brick looking side ....... but it has GPS reciver built in ....... you can get GPS software pretty cheap for it.

Correct me if I am wrong but there is not yet any sat nav software for a1000 - gps and map following yes, sat nav not yet (route 66 are developing something).
Also the a1000 does not get a gps signal as well as a dedicated unit.
    I think....

    Please please please help!!!

I reaally need some help, i have just noticed you can have sat nav on your phone and i am sorry for sounding stupid but i did not know this was possible even to the point of considering spending money which i do not have on a tom tom.

I have a nokia 6230i, i dont suppose there is the smallest chance in the world i can get sat nav on this can i??

I would prefer tom tom 5 with the saftey camera information on but could work with an earlier version for the time if this was possible.

If this aint possible can anyone recomend a mobile which i could possibly get on ebay (used) quite cheaply and would support the tom tom 5.

I really appreciate any help good or bad anyone can offer.

    Kind regards

    MissG

    wont work on 6230i
you need a symbian phone - i use a nokia 6600 which is also easy to unlock and you may get a working tatty one for £50-£60 on ebay (new covers £5 at market)
i also use an xda2 which is much better for sat nav as its got a bigger/cleaer screen although more expensive
