Post Office Refund

Hi, Just wondered what people thought about this. We had an item go missing, waited to see if it turned up then when it didnt refunded the ebay customer and claimed via the post office.

The item cost was was £6.66 and they have now "refunded" a 12 pack of 1st class stamps which is below the £6.66 and should they not give the money or at least enough stamps to cover the item?

Did you send all the certificate of posting and or receipts as required?

I have always been paid out for all my claims (except two recorded ones) where standard post was used and I had proof of posting.

Yes everything was sent as they requested including printouts of ebay invoice page and proof of posting.

In that case I would give postwatch a call..as Royal Mail would appear to be in breach of their own terms and conditions.

This does also have a knock on effect that others may have overlooked. Royal Mail do not consider Recorded as a tracked service so this rule would mean no payouts for RD items that are lost either.

 Why would they say that your COP covers up to £34 if they just send 12 stamps:mad:

I have a claim to put in and expect more than 12 stamps!

I have received a book of stamps before but this was sent as a goodwill gesture when I was unable to produce a CoP. As has been said you should pursue this as you should be refunded the full value as you have all of the evidence required to claim.

We normally get a book stamps even when we're submitting a claim over the phone to cover the lost postage as the claim will only cover the item cost
  • Every time I've made a claim with Royal mail they never give me back the price of the item is always been several pounds shorter
    :money:
