  • What is it needed for? Can it be broken down into smaller payments?

A few ideas - friends, family, car boot, Ebay with Buy It Now, phone a few temp agencies for weekend work, walk round a few bars tonight asking for shifts, overtime at work (sorry, I don't know your work situation), advance from work?

It's a lot to raise. Have you spoken to whoever you need to pay it to - to ask for more time?

And fail, and try again; But it matters much if you try and fail, And fail to try again.
  • Thankyou for the suggestions. Will now lift my head out of the sand and put things on ebay, ask bank for increase on overdraft, will even ask someone I know to lend it to me. OMG, I am really looking forward to getting out of this mess. Strewth.

What sort of debt is this?

    Where are you based?

Some credit unions do freedom loans which enable people to get away from doorstep lenders.

  • Hi again, no it's rent that just cannot be got out of and a repayment to a family member who needs it. I have calmed down now thanks to this thread. I have listed the things on ebay, got stuff in car for cash converter and am going to credit union to see if they can help. Bank was hopeless!I could take it out of credit card if REALLY stuck but obviously, I don't want to go there. Still the sun is shining and there are good people in the world who bother to respond to those panicking in forums like this. I really appreciate it.

why are you panicking over the rent, sometimes they dont want that much in one go, but im keeping my fingers crossed and hope you get there x
  • hope u managed to get the money raised, sounds like you doing everything you can.

just a thought, is your landlord a friendly sort? i only ask cos i know when i had a shortfall because of tax office taking too much out of my wages the landlord was very understanding and let me pay rent a couple of weeks late.
Who says I have to be normal? :p
