friends energy supply taken without consent.
Hi EDF took my friend's gas supply without her authorization or knowledge.
Her original provider Southern Electricity kept sending her letters saying 'sorry to see you go', she told them that she didn't understand why they were sending her letters as she didn't intend to leave them.
Then on the 2nd Feb 08 EDF had taken over gas the supply and were trying their best to take her electricity.
EDF reason was that they got her account mixed up with her neighbours, but her neighbour already had an account with them for a year.
EDF did get in touch and they did apologize and said they would send a chq for £20 and have everything sorted asap.
Still when she called southern electricity they were still waiting on behalf of EDF, hence their stalling means she cannot have access to her gas rebate and she is still not back with southern electricity, she has complained back to EDF to take the complaint higher, they didn't take it higher but agreeded there was a delay and apologized and that was it?, what can she do next.....or does she have to accept this?

Your friend should send a written letter of complaint to EDF, and if the process to return her isn't put under way promptly then she should complain to Energywatch or the Energy Ombudsman. Having said that, the process can take several weeks.0

That's about the sum and total of it! At least they have apologised! Its something that is rare these days.
Im not sure why southern cannot process the refund though? it shouldn't matter if your friend is a current customer or not, if she is owed money then she should get it!0
