  • After speaking with a manager there today they've agreed to credit £12 to my account as an apology in line with their current charge tariff!
  • Can't log in. Rang the call centre to be told Yes they have problems , try later (no good) or maybe tomorrow. Utter Shambles, as bad as Citibank.

Just unbelievable how financial services companies can get away with going live with systems that have not been thoroughly tested.

What was the credit for? They paid £1,250.00 into my account by mistake and I had to make 4 or 5 calls and was on the phone well over 30 minutes trying to sort it out but they didn't mention any credit.
  • I had to ask for it - I thought it was only fair as that's what they'd charge me if I messed them about.

However - I was happy with the £12 credit - but when I logged onto the account today to check it had been put on I was greeted by a CHARGE for £12.

They'd only gone and charged me for removing the mystery £150 they wrongly credited to my account.

Rang again and they said they knew but didn't know when it would be refunded.

Not a happy bunny. Have asked for someone in the executive office to contact me as I can see them giving me a late payment marker on my credit file for this and it's nothing to do with anything I've done (or not done)!!

Won't be using my card again until it's sorted though.
  • It appears that I'm not the only one that has had to endure the erroneous transactions on their Capital One account.
Okay they have a new 'flashy' website; however I would prefer we had the old website back because at least then I could rely on my transactions being added correctly and without their mischievous transactions making an unwelcome appearance.
I contacted them via their secure e-mail system on 26th Feb indicating that I was concerned that some strange transactions had appeared on my statement, that I was not responsible for them, and that I was concerned that my credit card security had been compromised.
Within the Capital One secure e-mail webpage it indicates that they will respond to all messages within two working days. Well two working days have come and gone and I've had no reply from them.
I sent another secure e-mail earlier indicating that I wanted a response by 10am this morning because I was very concerned. Little did I know that they were already aware of the problem, and that they just didn't bother to tell me that they had a problem with their new website.
I only took out the Capital One card because of the 4% cashback and I must say, I wonder whether it has been worth it. They have been by far the worst credit card provider I have ever had. The erroneous transactions are just the latest in a long line of problems with Capital One and I’ve only had the card since October. Anyway, the 4% cashback period is now over and so I'll probably just cancel the card because I'm not sure I can put up with them anymore.
A friend of mine put me onto MSE when we were talking about cashback cards etc. He said that I should visit the MSE website and check out the section on stoozing. After reading it I thought to myself, damn, if only I knew about this 5 years ago - or I'd checked out the MSE website sooner.
Anyway, as this is my first post – I’ve been waiting in the wings to see what should be the topic of my first post. I think giving Capital One a damn good thrashing is a good start.
Don’t get me wrong I’m not here to slate companies at the first sign of a problem – I have in the past written to a number of companies that provide me with great service.
    Anyway I’m beginning to ramble.
I need to be up for work in the morning and so I’d better get to bed. Is it really 2.25am already?
Sorry for the long post once. Please don’t shout at me anyone… Nighty night all of you in MSE land… even our cat has already gone to bed. I just hope I can get in the bed now – she has a habit of taking up all of the space and I don’t have the heart to push her off. Hopefully she’ll be harassing my wife and my side of the bed will be clear!!!
