not sure where to post this.... basically has anyone been recieving sms from 8007 or 80078 numbers.....normally they say stuff like free ringtones and stuff like that. More importantly did you know they charge you 1.50 for recieveing it!!!!

I thought it was a rare thing but when i asked around 3 out of 10 ppl do receieve these spam sms and didnt know they were paying for them. Apparently you can send a sms back to the number with the word STOP or STOP ALL and that would unscubscribe you. The problem is the text cost 1.50 too and 8 times out of 10 it would not have worked....

Anyone else having this problem?

  • I have a similar problem, I entered a competition through STAR magazine by text, 2 weeks later I get texted back thanking me for my subscription and here is my ringtone. There is nothing in the magazine that mentions this. I was under the impression that I was just entering the competion. They seem to turn up on a thursday, Orange told me to text back STOP ALL so I will see if that has worked. So far they have managed to add £6 to my mobile bill, does anyone know if I have any chance of getting that money back? To my mind they have stole this money from me - what can I do?

don't waste your time with orange. they're not interested. complain to ICSTIS (?) and get orange to change your no. free!! that's the only way to stop it, whatever rubbish orange tubbies might spout.
