i have just had a call from some window company to say they are looking for houses in my area to fit free windows for there catalouge i think i know there game just trying to get me to have windows in and then pay for them anybody ever had windows fitted for free for catalouge shoots i have to fit the criteria first of course i know that wont happen they are comeing tommorrow

I'd be really careful about letting them into the house at all - I think I heard about scams like this a while back - they might just be casing your place out & finding out through 'idle' chit chat whether you are alone in the house/ going away for holiday...

It doesn't smell right at all - why wouldn't they use an installation they've already done rather than give someone £1000s worth of labour/materials for free??

If you do want to go through with it, check the company are genuine. Get their names before you let them in, and call the company to confirm they do actually work for them. If the company only has a mobile number, or PO box address, proceed with caution.

Finally, if you do find out it's a scam, be sure to report it.

I had the same phone call this afternoon, They wanted to come around straight away but said i was busy, they want to come around on Thursday now.

They also asked whether i worked or not.... Dont know why they asked as they never followed it up with anything else??

I would check the company details out carefully and if worried contact the police... This sounds very dodgy... Take care...

A friend of mine last year had all the windows of the house fitted. It wasnt until after they had been fitted, that they were approached by the company asking if the house could be used in their brochure.

My friend agreed and got 10% taken off the cost.

I think the company who has contacted you may be dodgy, why would they offer to do all your house for free?? Alarm bells should be ringing if they arent already.

they are supposed to be ringing me tommorow to make a appointment so we will see they said if i didnt fit into the right catagorie then they will leave me with a quote i think thats there way of getting there foot in the door making u think you might get them free

I had a phonecall like this the other week. Do not let them in at any cost. My OH fits windows/doors/ conservatories etc and he said its a scam big time. There is no way company's can do it......

If the company is so good and have loads of work then they would have a customer base already who i suspect would be more than happy to have their windows and doors photo'd to be put in a glossy mag.
My OH sometimes asks customers if he can take photo's for his portfolio and they are more than happy to let him do it.

DO NOT LET THEM IN....ITS A CON !!
