My fiance worked as a Sales Man for this company. NEVER NEVER NEVER accept the first price on the night. Don't budge. They will come back to you by phone with massive discounts the day after, and faiing that they will badger you until you accept a price. There is a huge margin for negotiation here! Also a sales 'pitch' is 4 hours minimum. The Sales guy will not get paid unless they do the minimum 4 hours so he will sit tight even if you are not buying on the night.........unless you are very forceful and ask him/her to leave!
My fiance left after a month as he felt that the ethics and company procedures were immoral.

Fester - it's becaus etheir system dials numbers at a certain rate and then puts a connected call through to an operator - sometimes it doesn't quite work and it connects the call to no-one. You can hear the background noise but it either goes dead or you have to terminate the call.
I just got a call from their number at work. As soon as I did my "Good afternoon, company name" they put the phone down. I googled for their number and came up with this thread
We were recently contacte by SK the usual way (people knock on your door, convinces you to see a designer and you actually agree because it happens that you are looking to replace your old kitchen, so why not having a go at it?). The day after a salesman disguised as a kitchen designer came home at 7pm, and left at 11pm with a signed contract for ~£5000. We accepted the deal not because it was cheap, or because we believed we could pay-off the cost by using our kitchen as a showroom, or because we were expecting to win their prize draw for a complete refund (the two last issues turned out to be bogus), but because it could potentially quick (2 weeks from signing to finishing all work, the actual work itself being approx. 2 days), and because what this salesman showed us looked really good quality stuff.
I didn't sleep well that night.
What a surprise when I checked the web next day looking for information about SK and found out about the 8 bad reviews in ciao. Goes without saying that I immediately cancelled the contract and the check I had given them as deposit (>£500). Yesterday we found out that BBC watchdog dealt with more than 200 complaints against SK (you can check yourself in the BBC webpage). Today I find out that an association called KBSA which has more than 300 kitchen designers/constructors in UK, setting some kind of standard like CORGI for gasfitters, gives as one of their main warnings never to accept deals with a company without showrooms because you'll never be sure what they will be fitting in reality, no matter what they show you at your home.
In summary, our short-lived deals with SK cost us £10 for cancellation of the check, more £ for the phonecalls that the salesman made from our telephone (he didn't have a mobile, why?), the stamp to send our cancellation back to their head office, and 4 hours wasted on a Sunday evening.

I registered my phone number with the TPS over a year ago and these gits keep on calling!!! So far they've put the phone down on me twice (to try and get me to call back I presume) and offered me a free kitchen up to the value of £7000 if I take part in a 'Kitchen Showroom' photoshoot for my area. Yeah right...my a**e!
Have just called them on the 0800 number above and been reassured that my number will be removed from the database. We'll see........

I've just been called again!
They assured me that they follow the TPS rules, but I've asked three times to be removed from their database and nothing ever seems to happen.
Oh dear.

Looks life they are a subject of an OFCOM investigation - see http://www.ofcom.org.uk/bulletins/co...en_all/cw_905/
I have just recived another -silent this time - call from them and have raised a report on the OFCOM website. I know they do not deal with individual complaints, but the more they get, the more chance is they will do something about it and stop this bunch of cowboys from pestering us.

Would like to say thanks to you on this thread as I have not only been able to find out who has been making silent calls but also not to trust the company who is making them.
What a brilliant site this is - power to the people!
