Hi There
Hoping some of you shrewd money saving experts out there can help me. I want to open up an Instant Access Savings account with the following (if possible):
- A cashcard where I can withdraw money at anytime, from any cash machine and without any notice
- The best possible gross rate of interest
- An account where I can go into the branch and deposit cash
That is really the main requirements but its a minefield out there.
Can someone let me know what they think is the best account out there at the moment?
thanks

might depend on how much money you expect to have in the account.
For the ATM withdrawals, it may be a better plan to have a current account with a linked hi interest savings account. Then leave a small amount in the current account for making cash withdrawals, which you replenish from the savings account after each ATM withdrawal. Then you can get access to the higher interest rates of internet only savings accounts. e.g. Northern Rock Tracker Online 6.49%
If you have income you can pay into the current account, you could go for something from A&L where you can get 8.5% on the first £2500 in the current account, but then I think their best easy-access savings account offering might be the Plus Saver at 5.75%0 -
Not the sort of thing I usually look for,
Nationwide Cash Builder Card which is a miserly 2.4% on balances up to £9,999
Coventry Branchsave Instant 3.85% minimum balance £2000 (can apply for CashLink card)
surely there's something better out there somewhere0 -
Yorkshire Building Society, Internet Saver, 6% AER with a Link card and a monthly interest option.
Manage the account on line only, but draw cash at any UK Link machine.
Interest rate has not changed since 30/12 so could drop soon, but YBS seem to want this account to be competitive.

"Your initial deposit may be made by cheque, but all subsequent deposits must be direct transfers, either from another bank or building society account, e.g. by standing order, or another account held with the Yorkshire."0
