What can I do?

Hi

I have a SE S700i from the Carphone Warehouse, when I first joined the company, I had not been connected for 3 months and was charged Line Rental.

I complained about this and they refunded my money for the 1st 3 months' line rental after 1 month wait.

Now my handset is giving me problems with text messages not coming through etc..

Carphone warehouse says I have to take my phone to a store - 3 hours away by train!!!!

I would like to cancel my contract if possible or get rid of the phone and get maybe a cheap alternative contract or sell the phone on EBAY and buy something else.

What do you guys recommend I do?

Sell the phone and buy a k750i?
buy and new contract with the k750i?

I have Everyday Cover insurance from barclaycard, could always drop the phone down the toilet?!

HELP!!!

3 hours away? which country are you in?

I would use the toilet option! it suits the scenario.

Ask for them to send you a pre paid bag to send it to them or contact the manufacturer directly who may tell you to send it to them....must be cheaper than train fare and you won't get hot cinders in your hair either :)

When I had a problem with my Panasonic X70, rather than go to the nearest Carphone Warehouse store, which was around an hour away, I phoned Panasonic and they sent me a pre-paid RM Special Delivery bag to send them my phone. I sent it off to them and received it back two days later, with all problems fixed. Maybe you should see if Sony do something similar.

You have the option of paying off the line rental, drop your price plan to the lowest possible eg £12 a month say you want to pay off your contract early , then however many months are left x £12 is what you pay off and it is cancelled.

You could sell the phone on Ebay to either pay the above or for a new phone , but the S700i is only going for around £120-£150.

You could do the insurance job, but that would give you a replacement phone and you would still be in contract and be liable for the line rental.

My advice would be drop down to the lowest plan, pay it off now and get out asap.

There are plenty of good free phones available with cashback or free 6 months line rental with no cashback, just get out now and then you have lots and lots of lovely shiny phones to choose from.

    Good luck.
