First Post Combo Breaker First Anniversary Debt-free and Proud!
Thanks for all your kind words. I have to say i feel pretty proud of myself and am looking forward to moving out. I've actually already found a flat that is going through (hopefully complete in about a month) so now i'm on the hunt for bargains and have been saving LV's from pinecone like mad for my "first shop" for the last few months. I bought loads of bargains in boots after christmas so wont need to buy toiletries for a few months by which time i should be setlled into the routine again. And i've also been doing tns surveys like a mad woman so i've now got £50 worth of nectar points which will buy the ironing board and new duvet/pillows i need.
Other than that i have all the expensive stuff stored in my folks garage from my last flat.

I will not get myself into debt again (except my mortgage) and aim to have at least a months salary saved by Christmas.

Good luck to everyone on the Debt Free journey. I know mine was relatively easy going compared to others but i do know it can be really hard sometimes and you feel like splashing out now and again. But it is so worth it. I feel light today (does that make sense)?

Anyway, enough rambling. Back to work tomorrow to earn money for me rather than my debt *wooohoooooo* :j

  • Hi,

I know its a bit late (first time I have seen this thread), but CONGRATULATIONS on making that last payment and becoming debt free!

I am in a similar situation to you (before you became debt-free at least) in that I owe a large amount of money due to gambling problems, and I know how difficult giving up and keeping motivated is. It is nice to know that there is light at the end of the tunnel!

I wish you the best of luck in your new home.

Continued best wishes to you still, broke_student. I hope you're getting there with your problem, it just goes to show that it's possible to climb that mountain and get to the summit!

    Good luck, Sue

It's payday today which means i will be giving my last payment of £900 to my folks and be debt free :j
When i first wrote on here about my debt due to gambling i never in a million years thought i could do it. So thanks to everyone on here for the courage and support you gave me, and continued to give me through the last few years. Without this thread i could have taken a very different road as i thought i was a lost cause.

Time to move on now, I am buying a flat of my own again after having to move home and will be recieving some inheritance soon that will be paying the deposit/fees etc.
I will definitely take all the tips and advice given here with me.

    Thank you xx

It's folks like you who inspire me to keep saving and paying those debts off. Well done you!!! :T You are an inspiration. x
