Can anyone recommend the cheapest 42" plasma that is HDTV ready (DVI/HDMI input with HDCP) and where to buy it (I don't mind buying over internet if it is cheaper)?
I haven't set a budget but am hoping that the cheapest would come below £2k.
(Please note that I want HDTV ready and NOT HDTV compatible)
One more question: are those ALis panels HDTV ready?

I was looking around today for LCD or plasma rental, and I found a great deal:
http://www.rmtv.co.uk/catalogue/scripts/prodList.asp?idCategory=52
You can rent a plasma for £59.99 a month, which makes £719 / year.
This means if the average cheap plasma is about £1000, you have paid only 75% of this in the first year, after which you move up to the next model to rent or stop renting and buy the new technology in a years time.
Plasmas seem to have come down by £500 in the last few months or so, so I intend to rent this TV...

It turns out that you need to rent the stand with that company.
Ultimately, I went with forbesdirect.tv for a 32" LCD at £40 per month for 17 months.
I knocked them down from £50 a month, by forcing them to price match with R & M Rentals (who don't even cover my area - Birmingham).
I also insisted they waive the £15 application fee.
And there it is - glorious colours, PC compatible wide TV!

Hi - just a quick comment (although it doesn't necessarily apply to this thread) - LCD TV's last a lot longer than Plasma's (with heavy use, a Plasma can be for the rubbish tip in about three years).
If you were looking to buy a TV for the long-haul, I seriously suggest LCD over Plasma.CarQuake / Ergo Digital0
