Tiscali - free weekend calls offer...

Hi ladies and gents,

I wondered if anyone has seen this deal and if so, has anyone joined it and found it to be worthwhile?

It's a Tiscali Free Weekend Extra package they are doing, you don't pay any sign up fee's so that looks attractive to start with, here's the blurb:

Is free weekend extra right for me?
Free weekend extra is ideal for anyone who doesn't want to pay a fixed monthly fee and wants free local and national calls EVERY weekend. Plus all other calls are guaranteed cheaper than BT!

The reason I'm looking around is that I've just got my new bill from BT and we just seem to be paying so much money to them.

For example my cost of calls this qtr comes to £38.38, I get a whole 28p off in benefits (friends & family), my service charges total £29.36, the lovely VAT comes to £11.80 bringing the total to £78 odd.

I am on the BT Option 1 plan (the hour one) and (whether or not it helps anyone reading this?), the amount of daytime calls made totals 86, the evening & w/e calls total 89, mobile calls total 68 (most of them being made by one teenager), premium rate 14 (trying to win money!), national rate 17 calls, Lo-Call total 7 calls and other totals 2.

I did do a search on this (fab) website for any 'tiscali' related chat but found none, so if anyone has any comments would you be kind enough to let me know please?!

Thanks in advance

  • Lisa - just a quick reply - there's plenty of info. on this forum. Generally agreed that the best combination - is TalkTalk Option 1+ - FREE offpeak and w/es for twelve months
18866 - register and pay for peak daytime calls - 1p connection fee and that's all.
Just pay your £10.50 to BT by DD and then use these two suppliers for your calls.

TalkTalk will give you £10 just for signing up to them - plenty of folks that will refer you here.
  • Thanks allthatmularky! ;)

I'll have a read of the two companies you wrote about, I appreciate you taking the time and I look forward to finally saving some dosh!

  • Lisa - should have pointed you in the direction of this article
    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/cgi-bin/viewnews.cgi?newsid1095003038,99872,

as I should have said before - if you want a referral code to get the £10 from TalkTalk (if you decide to use them) - lisyloo on the referral board is giving the £25 she'll receive to charity.
