Hi, I used to work near there, its actually quite nice, has a little train station to the centre of Bristol etc, and loads of big supermarkets (asda, Lidl, Sainsburys, and a short drive to a Tesco), a cinema, that sort of thing. Lots of new build property there, and from what I have seen looks fairly quiet and safe.
Advantages are really good transport to both Bristol and Bath city centres, so working at either is easily commutable. The Bristol Ring Road is on your doorstep too, so getting to the M4 and M5 is easy. Close to Park n' Rides for both cities too, incase you dont fancy the daily battle for expensive parking spaces in each city. Im also looking for somewhere in that area (to rent though!), and am also looking in Kingswood, which is close by.
I certainly would live there, it seems nice.

I live in Kingswood, about 1 mile from Longwell Green. I agree with all the points made by jw1096. It's a nice area to live, haven't heard anything bad about the area.0

I just sold up and moved out of the area in late March after living there for 6 and a half years.
Which area are you looking as at one end you have willsbridge and at the other you are going in to hanham.
As has been said it is nice area. In cadbury heath (not such a nice area) which is only a little walk depending on which part you live in you have a chemist and the library.
Near the estate agents (3 of them with a 1 mins walk. LOL!!!) there is a takeaway, A Tescos express with a post office.
Also you have B & Q, Wickes and home base all very close. As well as a 24 hour Asda.
If you have any questions then please PM.
Yours

Hi,
I live in Longwell Green at the moment. It's quite nice, but it's also a big area.
If you pm me with the street names your interested in, then I can give you a better idea of what that part is like. e.g Bus service in some parts is very infrequent in evening etc.
Hope I can help.

I live in Bristol and a colleague was telling me there are loads of disused mines and tunnels around there. Might want to some more research that the ground won't be prone to subsidance in the future.:idea:I got an idea, an idea so smart my head would explode if I even began to know what I was talking about:idea:0

Hi,
This is a good part of Longwell Green. You are far enough away from Asda/B&Q, so that you won't get caught in all the traffic on the weekend.
You are within walking distance through the fields of the small Tesco, Takeaway and a Harvester restaurant. It is also only a short walk to Willsbridge Mill and Syston brook.
The only possible downsides I could forsee are:
No.45 bus goes along Longbeach Rd into town. It's not a great service if you are using it to go to work every day. If memory serves me right, after about 6.30pm there is one every hour.
As you are close to the playing fields, you will get the noise of local football matches on Sundays and the odd carboot on a bank holiday. If this is a plus or a minus will depend on if you like quiet, football or carboots. Also on the other side of the field is a social club - again could be noise or a chance to join in. It all depends on your point of view!
Also, be aware that we get rather a lot of air traffic on the way to Bristol Airport. It is worst in the summer.
That's my honest view, I hope it helps. I've lived here for nine years and I think it is a good area.
The mining reports will be looked at by your solicitor and should be ok.
Let me know if you want to know any more info.
Good luck.

I do agree about the noise from the playing fields and social club.
I did notice a small increase in air traffic before I left but when I bought my flat just off california road I was not aware it was on the flight path at all.
But did get to see concorde fly over very very high on a good day.
If you are out to work all day you will not notice it. But you might hear it early in the moring or late at night. I also switched over to DAB radio as I found it interfered with my normal radio.
I assume they have finished building as they where still building when I left in march.
The development of houses are in a little island with foothpaths around it unless they have re-routed them. This was a playing field before it was turned in to houses and the top corner where the show house is would flood when it rained hard. But I assume they have dealt with all that.
Also you are close to an island of green which is a park. And about half a mile from the Bath to Bristol cycle.
yours

thank you all
my biggest concern is as wether it is a good idea to buy a new build house in this area as it looks quite established area and is it a good growth area in respect to houses?
thanks once again0
