  • As the title says - I would like to get a slow cooker.:)

There's myself and DS (17) most of the time and DD2 when she comes back from uni.

I leave for work at 8 in the morning and get back at 6 in the evening so I'm not sure if it'll work or whether I'll need to stick it on a timer.

I'm looking for any information you lovely people can give me in terms of size, good features to look for, where to find recipes. I've seen the thread on here and will look there too.
I need to make a new list for 2014
think of something to put on it!:rotfl:
Try harder for 2014 as I never managed it in 2012 or 2013

You should get a full size one, just 'cos there's only the two of you don't think a small one will do.
I only have the Cookworks one from Argos so nothing fancy but it does it's job, when full of curry or casserole its probably 5/6 good portions. I think on low you could safely leave on all day.

Definitely get a larger one; you can always freeze extra portions. You can get them for about a tenner in T*scos or the other supermarkets.

I have this book and it's really good

  • Because my kitchen is so small I got this one from QVC cos it's tall instead of wide.

I turn mine on at 7/8am and put it on low until I come home at 6/7pm.
  • I've only ever used mine for less than the 8-6 pm work day a couple of time, so yep it's fine for that amount of time on the low setting. Think of putting a shoulder of lamb in in the morning and returning to a lump of meat that can be separated by forks.. sprinkle with lots of mint and even some pomegranate..... yummy!!!

  • Well I got one from Tesco today £9.00 http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.100-2168.aspx

I thought that this was too good a bargain to overlook. I also got one for my sister for Christmas and with a handblender for my daughter as well I was able to use £10 of my tesco vouchers.

Al I have to do now is find a few recipes and see what happens.
