I contacted StayWarm again, showed them the above and this is their reply

    Hi Martin

The letters to customers who are being put back onto Staywarm started to go out this week. Unfortunately the customer below must have received the Powergen tariff letters before we were able to stop them. All new letters should arrive by the end of this week. We’re unable to automatically transfer these customers back onto Staywarm for legal reasons but all customers who have been removed will be asked if they would like to rejoin Staywarm. The freephone number for any customer who is concerned about the process is 0800 183 1363.

Martin, I am sure I speak for many people when I say a BIG thank you for being our champion! It is so hard for the 'little guys' to make our voices heard!
I also contacted my M.P. had a nice reply from him saying he would be contacting Powergen. Today I got another with a letter from Powergen to him.......which he kindly passed on to me, sayiang more or less the same as they did to you.

What would be REALLY good, is if you could manage to persuade Powergen to say once and for all WHAT THEY consider to be high usage! I find it incredible that they steadfastly REFUSE to say what it is!
    Thank you again :)

But it was ok to transfer me from Staywarm to Powergen, no "Legal Reasons" there. ::)

    Hi Gatita

Remember - at the moment there is no 'high usage' definition as anyone who was on the service can access it.

Only new users can't. If you read my staywarm special note on usage limits it shows you the limits in different areas and i explain how it works there

    Martin :)

    Hi Gatita,
Sorry for the late reply. I've been decorating. Staywarms calculations for kilowatt usage were 8925 for electricity and 46538 for gas. These were estimates for 12 months.
My calculations using BG method of conversion for gas were 8164 for electricity and 26009 for gas. You can see that there is a big difference especially for the gas.
This morning I received an answer to my Email to Staywarm apologising for causing me "worry" and saying that shortly I will receive an invitation to rejoin, however it would appear that I am still considered as a high user because the price will be different (obviously higher) and the new price will only be guaranteed until the New Year. I will be writing to them again.

Yes, it is all too easy to read through this site in an attempt to discover ways of saving money, equally it is all too easy to forget who has spent time money and effort researching and asking questions on our behalf.

I doubt there is ever a day pass by that I don't quote this site of Martin's.

From another gratefull and appreciative reader/user of this site, thanks Martin. Islandman

Sent another Email letter to Staywarm with my calculations and asking them why they couldn't just transfer me back.
    Received the following:

"Unfortunately it is standard procedure for all customer who have been transferred off the scheme to complete the relevant forms in which to be transferred back onto Staywarm"

They also said that someone will telephone me within 7 days to discuss it. I am waiting with bated breath.

Just had a quote from Staywarm for £61 pm - last year used 7700 kwh electric - 15500 kwh gas. We have 3 beds and 2 people in East Mids area. Worked out that next year charge with current suppliers would be about the same, but decided to switch since it is FIXED price and we can use a bit more heating at no extra cost. Use BASIC POWER for electricity but just put price up by 30% - so switching on prinicpal is a MUST DO.

Staywarm telephoned yesterday (my wife took the call because I was out) and it seems that after checking my figures they have decided that we are low users after all and have been reinstated with Staywarm without the hassle of completing extra forms. The monthly payment has increased to £63 something (my wife couldn't remember exactly) which is about 11% increase but a whole lot better than £117 per month.
    It pays to complain. ;D
Thanks Martin for your persistance with Staywarm.
