The one in my store was also adverised at £149.99. When I told the manager that they were £129.99 on the O2 website he checked on the shop computer and said that the shop price was also £129.99 but they hadn't got round to changing the shelf ticket price. Check the O2 site and tell the shop.

Hmmm.....the O2 shop in Harrow on the Hill had also the price at 149, but they said they give 20pounds of talk time (so thats 129pounds). However, when I asked about refund, they said that they would only refund the phone+the talk time. NOT the trade-in. So if you take it back, you will onlu get 99pounds. Also, the trade in phone needs a battery and charger and needs to power up.

Even so however, you can still get it and then sell it on ebay or CEX. I think I will get one and then sell it. Still, having sold a crappy old phone for 50pounds is excellent, even if I manage to sell the new phone at say 139pounds.

Was thinking the same myself, looks like it will be CPW for one in Black for £69.99 on T-Mobile. Or may monitor to see if the price drops again.
    Cheers

How much better is a V8 than a KRZR?

Check it out on the O2 website - £129.99. According to O2 you get the same deal in the shop as on the website. It's priced wrong in the shop - ask them to check the latest price.

    Sounds very interesting!

Remember that according to the law, they don't have to provide a refund unless it's faulty. Although they do in this case, they could get narky if you really abused the offer and eventually refuse you a refund. Unlikely though!

They don't have to offer the 14 days return period, no, however once they've stated you're entitled to it, they can't change their mind as it's part of the contract!

I used to work at the place that runs this scheme for O2. They have a monthly brochure available instore which shows the different trade in values. The value for recycling your old phone depends solely on which new phone you are buying.

If you trade your old phone in and then change your mind about the new one it can be extremely difficult to get the old one back though as it is likely to be in a warehouse with a million other old phones by then.

  • Heres my first post and it's a tip to get you £50 for ANY old mobile phone. I must add that I haven't personally had it as (a) I'm not thick skinned enough to do it and (b) If I was, my wife wouldn't let me:o . I'm 100% positive that it will work so please, someone go for it!

Today I have just bought my wife a new PAYG phone from an O2 shop. The phone I purchased was a Motorola V8 flip phone. It was priced instore at £129.99 but on this phone, O2 stores are allowing £50 p/x on any old phone. I took up this offer and produced a very old Sony CMH333 phone - They used to be known as a Sony Mars Bar due to being the same size as a Mars Bar. It must have been nearly 15 years old and they currently go for around 99p on eBay.

    Anyway, I handed over the phone and I had to sign a till reciept to confirm that I had recieved £50 trade in for it. I got my new phone for £79.99 (plus I had to buy a £10 top up but you can claim a refund on this provided you dont use any of the credit). When I left the shop I examined my reciept and clearly printed on that was a statement that by trading in your handset you are agreeing to transfer ownership of the handset to O2 for recycling and a few other conditions basically confirming that there is no personal data left on the phone, the sim has been removed, O2 can dispose of it etc. but the ones you will be interested in are the final 2 conditions and I'll type these exactly as they appear on the reciept;
    4. I understand that in the case of any subsequent refund, this handset cannot be returned to me and a refund will be given to include any allowance obtained by transferring ownership of this handset to O2 UK.
    5. I UNDERSTAND THAT TRADE-IN HANDSETS CANNOT BE RETRIEVED OR RETURNED TO ME UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.

All you have to do now is to return your recently purchased Motorola handset under the 14 day returns policy, claim a refund on what you actually paid for the phone and according to their own terms, also claim back the £50 trade in allowance for your p/x phone as they cannot return it. Easy peasey.

Let me know how you get on!

The wording clearly suggests that the refund will include the £50 allowance therefore you SHOULD get refund of price paid plus the £50 allowance.

What about the £10 topup is that refunded and can you keep the sim if you dont use the £10 topped up?

I strongly suspect the sales managers will just refuse to refund you in accordance with the terms rather than risk getting in trouble. So where does that leave you if you do this deal?
