Virgin net. The catch (without poll)

I almost signed up with virgin net for broadband because their prices are reasonable and they dont tie you to a yearly contract but a monthly one.
I see that many are favoring virgin for the same reasons - But check out the small print first. "With Virgin.net, you won't have to sign a 12 month contract. However, if you wish to leave our broadband service, you'll need to give us 30 days notice. Please note that we reserve the right to apply a £50 cancellation charge if your service is cancelled within 12 months of activation. Unfortunately, this charge is necessary due to the cost of activating your broadband service."
So when signing up dont forget to take the £50 fee into account.

Unless anyone can show me a better deal I'm going with Tiscali at £14.99
Although its at the slower speed of 512k it comes with a generous 30gb monthly usage
I've been with Metronet til now and have no complaints but I'm moving house and dont feel like paying the new £58 setup fees
If it helps anyone I think metronet is great and telephone support is on a normal landline. I called them a few times and they were always very kelpful.
Another reason I was put off virgin is that after scouring their website I couldnt find even an 0870 number to ask a few questions
Tiscali have an 0800 number for registration and so I got to speak to a real live human being and all my questions answered
They say tecnical support is only 5p a minute
While waiting for up to 10 days for my connection I can use their dialup services at 1p a minute. so far I'm impressed

PLEASE don't go with Tiscali. You will never get away from them and their customer service AFTER you sign up is appalling.

Go to www.adslguide.org.uk and see what their customers past and present have to say. You are going to be desperately disappointed after being with metronet who are superb!

Thanks for the advice. I am fine with metronet only my monthly usage is now around 2.2 - 4 GB which costs me around £22 per month plus I have to pay £58 again to set up my new account.
So with my finances being a bit tight at the moment £14.99 a month all told is a more attractive figure. Plus I'll be sharing the connection with a neighbour bringing it down to just £7.50 with 30gb amonth between us
Do you think I could do better?

    Don't go with Tiscali.
Go to the adslguide site and see what people recommend. F2S, Plusnet and of course metronet are all recommended often, and no complaints about them.
Another thing I would do is email James at support and tell him how happy you have been but now because of your circumstances you will have to go with another isp unless he can suggest otherwise. You never know! You don't get if you don't ask!;)

I'm new to this and didnt mean to setr it up as a poll.
When I hit back on my browser I would lose all i'd written so I went ahead with it as a poll.
I didnt feel like typing it again
    Sorry for the confusion

personally - I went with b. a just doesn't make sense and c is now outdated...

If you are doing 4GB a month and you're paying £22, I think you're paying too much.

May I recommend freenetname? I just transferred to them and I would highly recommend them as an ISP, they delivered the service as promised and the customer service was excellent (when I needed it). I migrated in so I got the 4 months free deal for their £17.99 2Mb/5GB broadband package (this averaged out to £11.99 a month). They give everyone 2 months free so that would bring the cost of the £17.99 package down to £14.99 which is a pretty good deal for 2Mb/5GB broadband.

Have a look at NDO. They may not be the cheapest, but they do have a good reputation.
