Jessops Price Matching

Not sure if this should go here so feel free to move where necessary

We were really impressed today, we wanted the Canon Powershot S2 which was £340 on Amazon and £440 in Jessops. As we prefer (from bad experiences!) to buy more expensive items from a shop we thought we would test Jessops Price Match policy- they were more than happy to do it, we thought they would come up with some reason that they couldn't, but no, they honoured it

Jessops always do a price match if asked? They won’t turn away a sale.
My brother always asks for a price match, he bought a lens for a digital camera and had seen it for £2000 and got it from Jessops for £1600
He’s spent about 60 grand on cameras and another 40 on lenses all from jesssops

we were really impressed again yesterday, came home with replacement camera as first one was damaged to find wrong type in box! No problem , they sent someone around to the house with the right one, we are in a village 10 miles from the shop, very happy bunnies...

No quite true re price match. If you see my other posts you will see I've been debating which digital SLR to buy.

I found a dealer willing to do a Pentax *IST DS for £587 (UK stock and in stock). Jessops are selling the camera for £699. The best Jessops could offer was £677.

It seems with the price match the store has to call head office to authorise it, and see how far they will go.

However they did agree to price match a Nikon D50 to £528 (Jessops sell it for £599).

Hello all, total newbie here!!..and what a fantastic site!!
i would agree with their price match. Bought a Sony dscw5, their own cover (additional 2 years) and a 1gb memory stick. Camera should have been £250, got for £200 as they dont price match pixmania (£190), and the memory stick was dropped from £110 to £80. Basically I went in there saying I wanted a deal for £300. After some negotiating we compromised at £310. WELL chuffed!!

p.s i've also joined as a new addition to the Sky digital bargain hunters today too, more money saved!! bless

Heh - was planning to post this today.

They will price match SELECTED web sites. They have a book full of the ones they will match. Take a few of the cheapest sites print outs with you and start with the cheapest.

The procedure is as follows:

1) Show them printout - they will check the list
2) The then phone headoffice and ask if they can match it.
3) Headoffice give them the lowest price they can go to.
4) Walk away with camera.

I got them to lower their price for a cam from 399 quid to 290 quid! And that was the price on the site BEFORE delivery!

They will price match Pixmania btw.

The store that I ended up buying my camera from said they don't match Pixmania, as the camera is foreign sourced.

Go to a different store. They would have pricematched me. Its in their book. Ask to have a look at it

PS - Make sure you show them pixmania.co.uk and not .com. They will only pricematch UK web sites. Not sure about sourced. It was in their books 2 weeks ago, but between the 2 visits I found it cheaper...

Cheers for that. Anyway Pixmania was not the cheapest for the camera I wanted.

do jessops advertise their price match guarantee on the web site ? or is it shown in store ?
I'm after a nikon d50 kit with a couple of lenses , memory card , spare battey bag etc and would be delighted if jessops price matched pixmania .
or even any discounts for pixmania would help .

albalad i went into my local jessops store and was told they only price match on high street stores due to all the reduced stock they are selling at the moment,
