Hi again, how about ringing Virgin up and just asking for a better deal as long as they include Jetix (Spongebob is the one thing we can't get rid of in our house!) Sorry if you have heard all this before I'm just trying to think of solutions for you! Virgin do seem to have some nicer people working for them now and if you dont ask you dont get.

  • How about opening up your sealed pot to pay the rent? I was reading the thread at the beginning and you seemed to be putting loads of £ coins in there - I couldn't afford to do that and I work full time. I know you won't want to open it early but maybe you could start it again and just put in silver money, that's what's in mine?

  • Have you approached your local council about discretionary payments to help cover the shortfall in your housing benefit. I got this from my local councils website:

    Discretionary Payments and Appeals
Discretionary Housing Payments (DHP's) were introduced on the 2nd July 2001 and:
    • Can be made where the Benefit Section consider that you need additional help with your housing costs.
    • Can only be made to increase Housing or Council Tax Benefit. This means that you have to be entitled to some benefit before you can receive any Discretionary Housing Payments.
    • Cannot help you pay utility bills, for example water rates, fuel bills and so on.
The Government sets a limit as to how much in Discretionary Housing Payments we can award each year
