Chargeback by paypal :(

Its there crappy service that is open to exploits, They should take a leaf out of Nochex's book. IE there is insurance on every payment mean should a charge back happen you will not be chargedHow can it be paypal's fault when they recommend only sending to confirmed addresses?
There is a checklist on the sticky thread 'useful links' post 16 , if you can't meet all the criteria for seller protection you need to decide whether to send or not. personally for smaller items i never bother with confirmed addresses, but then that is a risk I understand and accept. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. nireland guy, it is worth looking through the terms and conditions on paypal and not just using it blindly..if you know the pitfalls then you can decide how much risk you ar eprepared to take.
Also under the new rules higher volume business sellers will be protected against chargebacks..as long as the address is confirmed though.
I also 100% agree with custardy's post, we can't have it all way. Make paypal 100% safe for sellers, even when they don't follow the rules and it will be less safe for buyers. Favour th ebuyers and it will be less safe for selelrs.

Whilst you will lose the paypal claim don't let the buyer get away with it..see my post 6. If this is a scam then frighten the scammer, call them up and tell them you are taking legal advice to recover either goods or funds. They just might be daft enough not to have realised that you have all the info on where they live and where the package was signed for.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. They ahve it set on some auctions so only paypal users can bid, all they need to do is upgrade this a bit and have a system where only confirmed users can bid.Nice to save.0

It would be a real improvement if you could set your seller preferences to not accept bids from unconfirmed addresses.
I listed an item 2 weeks ago (buy it now) for £130 - the listing stated that buyers should 'make sure their address is CONFIRMED if paying by PayPal"
The item sold - buyer had an unconfirmed address
Had to go through the usual process, refund, explain problem to buyer & suggest alternative payments. I didn't hear from the buyer.
Looked on Goofbay and found they had won the same item a couple of days later from another seller!!
Filed NPB after 7 days - luckily they responded so I could close straight away and relist.
It's just alot of hassle which could easily be addressed by allowing sellers to set a block.0
