BT option 2 or Primus option 2?

                    Hello,
I was thinking of taking BT up on their offer to give free evening calls on option 2, but having read here first, I got the impression many people were against it, favouring Primus 2, which offers the same thing but without tying you into a contract.
Why is everyone so anti-BT? What is wrong with having a contract? And who are Primus? I've never heard of them before, which is why I was tending towards BT; better the devil you know, and all that.

There is nothing wrong with the BT offer - in fact its quite good compared to where we all were a few years ago - assuming:
- you are happy to sign up for a12 month period
- your evening/weekend calls are for under 60 minutes each (without redialling). BT start charging if a single call goes over 60 minutes, Primus give you 90 minutes/call
- you don't make many long mobile calls from your landline.. if you do then the Primus Penny Mobile 2 add-on option may make sense (though not many people do and you will be worse off with this option if your calls to mobiles are 'short')
There are a few other benefits to BT Together Option 2 as well if you use them including more numbers qualify for F&F 'Autoupdate' than on Option 1 and you can also send 100 free SMS messages/month on Option 2 if you have a compatible phone.
In fact, for most people I would now say that staying with BT and taking advantage of their offer makes sense, rather than joining Primus - unless like Heinz (I believe) you divert phone calls from your landline to your mobile.

            I am sticking with Primus.
Will see how BT pans out, at least Primus has no yearly rolling contract.0 -

I've looked but can't find any mention of this on the BT site. Could you post a link please? I'm especially interested in the free texts. There are a few other benefits to BT Together Option 2 as well if you use them including more numbers qualify for F&F 'Autoupdate' than on Option 1 and you can also send 100 free SMS messages/month on Option 2 if you have a compatible phone.

Daytime rate on Primus doesn't start until 08:00, so that's a plus point. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0

I nearly joined the free evenings thingy with BT, ironically the act of looking at this option caused to to log in & see a cheeky extra direct debit charge for £99+VAT (now reversed after 30 mins complaining on the phone).
I will consider the 12 month commitment idea again when BT starts to put the headline figure for each online bill into the subject line of the bill notification email.
At least 18185 attach the bill to their email so it's much easier to see it.0
