Parking Sensors

I've just bought a car with parking sensors fitted. They really do make parking a lot easier. I never realised how close I could reverse up to the car behind me until now!!
But saying that, the car already had them fitted. I doubt I would pay a lot extra for the option. Maybe £100 or so but nothing silly.
In most cases, cars only have the sensors on the back bumper where parking is harder to judge. Yesterday, I saw a BMW 1-series with sensors on both the front and back - talk about an easy life!!!If you found my comment helpful, please click the 'Thanks' button below :T0 -

My personal theory is unless your driving something very big like a Landcruiser or range rover or something with limited visibility like a panel van you should not need parking sensors - surely you have several windows and mirrors and that is all the assistance you should require.0

Parking sensors can be quite expensive, about £150 each, front and rear.
I drive a big car, plus i'm only little and opted out of having parking sensors fitted, dont know why, but we seem to rely on alot of electronical stuff nowadays.
I say the more 'extras' you have fitted into your car, the more things you can have faults with, so in the long run, you may spend more money on repairs.
As I've mentioned, I do drive a big car, and tbh, if you have the capable driving and parking skills, then you do get used to your car, and judging how much free space you have when parking etc.
When our car went in for a service, we was given a car with front and rear parking sensors, and jeez, did they annoy me, all that beeping, when I was miles away from anything, its a good job it had an 'OFF' button.
So, in my opinion, I wouldnt bother with parking sensors, but then again, thats just my view0 -
My new car is being delivered this week...:j (sorry I am really excited) I had three week long test drives in cars I was thinking of ordering and they all had parking sensors. I have Fibromyalgia which means I can't always turn my head and neck without creaking so I found the sensors a real help.0

I've had them now for 6 months and love them, the only problem is my OH, who still thinks he knows better than them! (Yeh, that little dent you see when the light catches it at the right angle was his).
Seriously though, they're great for those times when there is restricted space, and you'll get into places you never beleived possible.0 -
i had a look at some and they beeped faster as you got nearer but gave a continous beep at about 300mm /12 inches which seems a big gap still really, would have thought you can judge that gap normally.0

They're one of those things like electric windows and electrically adjustable mirrors....you don't need them, but once you've driven a car with them you'll never go back to one without.I really must stop loafing and get back to work...0

parking sensors 10/10 as far as i'm concerned.
Some dealers will 'throw them in' as part of the deal, but personally i've put my hand in my pocket on 2 occassions now (plus 1 freebie) and added them.
it's something i have NEVER regretted fitting.

They're brilliant! it would be impossible to judge small gaps in mt Alhambra without them - also saves scratching painted bumbers - really scares people when they see you getting so close. Mine go from bleep to constant to a siren type noise at 3 inches. Got front and back too.0
