Looks like it is 6 years for NI too:
http://www.cafamily.org.uk/DebtNI.html
"Has the debt lapsed because of time?
If a debt has been unpaid for many years take advice before contacting the creditor or any debt collector. The debt may no longer be legally enforceable. The law says that most creditors have 6 years to start proceedings against you. However, this is a complex area and you should seek advice if you think it applies to you."
May be a useful site to you.0 -

Defo CCas if they will work in NI. MBNA have a very poor record on them - you are likely to get an Application form back not a proper CCA.If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0

Hi - I've added some comments in red.

Telephone 40
Internet 25
Oil 100 - can you reduce this a bit? More jumpers, lower thermostat?
Sky 20 - bin this, or reduce the BT package, both togeher are expensive.
Car Finance 200
Road Tax 15
Insurance 28
Fuel/Parking 120
Food/Cleaning Etc 300 - you can cut this. For 2 adults, and 2 kids, it's not that hard to spend £200 a month - there are people on the OS board who do it for £100 a month, but that's really hard work!
Tobacco 50 - if you can't give up, roll your own?
Clothing 40 - for the moment, wear what you've got.
Tax Overpament 100
HB Overpayment 40
Social Fund 40
HP Furniture 80
MBNA 20
TOTAL £1758As you can see there is basically nothing left to pay creditors, And if something like a birthday comes up it means somethins isn't paid which In turn snookers something else and so it continues. Our shopping does look high but that includes nappies, baby food, cleaning and toilet stuff along with food.
That should save £150 a month, and once the social fund finishes ( I think you said that's quite soon?) that's an extra £40 a month.
Could either of you do a bit of overtime?...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

You have some choices here...there are some luxuries in the budget at the moment like smoking & sky...your choice at the end of the day! What happened to the DMP that you were on? What was the advice given about that? I do think you need to ring & get up to date advice on ding a formal debt management plan. You can cut down on some things but its going to be tight! The debts arent huge but the amount you have t spare isnt loads either but wil improve when yu cut down. Ideally your partner or you could get more work & increase income & that would do it...It is hard being in debt, no two ways about it but you can do it but it take an innovative approach (ie using freecycle for a battered old sofa rather than going & getting one on HP kind of innovation!)! As for the CC's YOU MUST stop using them. You simply dont have the money! Try & start keeping a bit of your budget & building up an emergency fund for when things go wrong, which they invariably do. Big hugs for you!Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! Even in the darkest moments, love and hope are always possible.0
