Items ordered not arrived

Hope this is the right place for this.

Jan. 12th I ordered some items from a website..........£11 in total. I paid by cheque and was assured as soon as the cheque cleared the items would be sent to me and to allow 2-5 days delivery.
Cheque has cleared (shows on bank statement) but no goods have arrived nor have I had any response from the web site concerned despite three e mails and two phone calls where there was no reply and I had to leave a message.
What do I do next ? Do I give it a bit more time, if so how long ?

  • Which website did you order from Mary? If you had paid by credit card you'd have some recourse as the payment you make is protected and you'd probably get a refund, but I'm really not sure how a cheque payment would fare.

Maybe someone else here will be able to help you. I must say it has been too long now and if they aren't replying they can't be reputable.

if you have an adress- which i assume that you do as you sent the cheque there send them a letter by recorded delivery stating that if you do not receive the item or a full refund within 14 days then you will commence proceedings through the small claims court

that normally gets people into action

I have the postal address...........it was given on the e mail confirming the order so that I could send a cheque off.
I did consider writing a letter - think thats my next step.
I will try ringing again to see if I get a reply. I know the phone number is right as I rang the lady concerned when I received the first e mail from her, just to confirm my order number.

BallandChain - the site address is
www.asmittenkitten.wahmall.co.uk I got it from one of the boards on this site.........there was a sale on at the time but I forget which board it was.

add: Just telephoned again and got no answer.........phone went on to 'message' again

    Thanks for your help.

  • I just checked that website and it says it prides themselves on customer service!

' We pride ourselves on our reasonable prices, quick delivery and excellent customer service.'

    They also state:

'Any claim for non delivery must be notified in writing (email is fine) to Smitten Kitten within two weeks of the order date and then investigations with Royal Mail will take place before a refund can be given.'

Mary, it seems they refuse to answer you via e-mail or telephone I would write a letter as Kill Bill suggests. Heck, you could threaten them with Trading Standards as this person is operating in this country (good thing there is an address) and you could threaten to get their website removed as a last resort.

Just for safe keeping incase the website disappears:

    I'll make sure of that.
Just had another look at the website and its part of a sort of 'on-line shopping mal' run by Wahmal (think I've spelt that right).............I could always contact them as well as the site concerned is on their index...........or would that be a bit premature ?

  • Even better! Just went to Wahmall and the Smitten Kitten website is part of their group.

The owner's contact info for Wahmall is:

It might be worth ringing this number or e-mailing and stating your problems so maybe this Smitten Kitten will get a call from Wahmall!

Just to add Smitten Kitten must have paid to Wahmall to be part of their group. Check this out:
