The lenders like knowing that an address is permanent enough that you register to vote there and national/local government like to use credit files to crack down on benefit/single person discount fraud.0 -
You don't need to be on the electoral roll to get credit or a mortgage. I've arranged mortgages for plenty of UK resident clients of non-EU origion who can't register. They can have bank accounts, credit cards, loans, etc just like everyone else.
