Hi everyone,
Im after a little help on this. I checked my credit score a couple of weeks ago (£2 statutory report) as was curious. had a bit of debt problems in the previous years and starting to now get back on my feet. I decided to check my report and all showing green which was great but there was only the Electoral Role section that was red.
I moved in with my partner in March of this year and i sent my change of address to the local council etc at the time of moving and also i have received letters showing voting details etc a while ago. But it still shows red??
am i being too impatient waiting for my credit score to update with my new address or should have this been rectified by now???
Any info/advice would be great
Thanks0 -
Many years ago i owed the bank a lot of money over fines taking me over my limit and every month more fines etc. I then moved and change jobs and sorted my life out however i had never voted so never registered to vote so without me realizing it ever would the debit expired.
I now have about £700 spending money each month so
i tried to apply for finance for a used motorbike which failed despite them trying different lenders even ones who deal with ccj,s.
I assumed my credit rating was truly awful so applied to experian to see how bad and what ccj,s etc were on my file.
my score came back today.
The highest possible is 999 i got 909
the only negative that is says i can change is the electoral register which i assume will then take me to 999 maybe.
needless to say for vehicle finance even just £3000 forget it if you not registered to vote0 -

Being on the electoral role is a big thing in credit terms and not being on it will cause problems.
Don't take the experian score too literally, they don't lend money so the banks assessment of your creditworthiness won't necessarily be the same. We've had many instances of people reporting they have ccjs etc, a 999 credit score which they think is brilliant but no one will give them a loan, card etc.
So don't count your chickens.....0 -
Hi guys, I was recently declined for a Bank of Scotland credit card and Barclays initial card.
I got my credit report from Equifax and everything was green, but the electoral roll red, giving me a very poor rating of 264. I then registered at my new address, and am due on the regiester in a week.
Once my credit reports have been updated with the electoral roll, am I then free to apply again, or is it necessary to wait a while? It is very urgent that i get credit
Thanks, any info appreciated0 -
I have recently signed up to a Credit Score checker (one that does not require a subscription). However it states that I have been registered on the electoral register at my current address from 2011 to 2015 & that I am not currently on the register. I know this is not true, as I have got my voting card for the Welsh Assembly Elections a few weeks ago & I always check that I am registered before any elections.
I have however requested that I am on the Closed Electoral Register. Is it this that is effecting my credit score?
Thank you.0 -
.I don't think having a credit card these days signifies that you have a good credit score in order to recieve finance. This ca be achieved through all contracts that you can get for mobiles, internet service etc that can boost your credit rating. Being on the electrol roll is easier to find your details and imply what credit you've had in the past.0

Yep i checked equifax as well and the only thing that flagged was the register so now its just a waiting game to see how long it will take for the address to update so i can get my new bike i really hope its before the end of may when im riding to germany but i doubt it.
My workmate got a 18k car at 25 with a average rating so i have hopes but no chickens are being counted just yet0 -

Sad to say the register will not improve a very poor rating i would think that there is other factors that are affecting you as i have a very high score without being on it and whilst i still cant get things because of it my score itself is not seriously affected by it. By the way the fact you know your on it in a week i assume is information from the council sad to say they still have to send it out within 6 weeks and the credit companies have to then update it. if you need credit i would look at other options for now0 -
so I registered on the 19th of April and it says they will tell you when its done 15 days later I call them and am told it was done the same day which is great until they tell me the cutoff date for may was the 18th so they wait another month before releasing it argh. so that rules out a new bike for the ride to Germany at the end of may. experian then say it takes upto 6/8 weeks because they run checks so basiclly another 3 months with no bike by which time there summer will be over. how does it take two months to confirm a address?0

So for anyone wanting credit urgently and has recently registered to vote here is the time scale.
If you register before the 19th maybe 10th with some councils your details will be sent to the credit agencies within the first week of the next month. then the agencys will take upto 6/8 weeks to update their file after performing 4 checks but they wont say what they are.
After missing april cutoff by one day i had to wait till june for my address to be sent over but it was ok because experian staff told me its 6/8 weeks from when i registered except the lied its 6/8 weeks from when they get it. so i registered 19th of april and will probably be on around august which frankly is pretty !!!! service all round which is funny because they charge £15 for nothing as they are not rushing to help me0
