O2 via CPWH contact ending, how to keep number on new deal
Hi,
My current O2 contract (actually via Carphone Warehouse) finishes at the end of March. It's a cashback deal where I send off some of the statements and get a cheque back, has worked well. So I'm looking to take out a new (different) cashback deal with Carphone Warehouse and want to 1) Keep using O2 and 2) retain my existing number.
I've read stuff about this being very hard to do (the keeping the number bit) and suggestions of temporarily transferring my number off O2 onto another providers PAYG SIM and then transferring it back onto my new O2/CPWH contract when that's all set up (which sounds like a PITA).
Anyone got any advice/war stories or am I doomed to try and get an answer from O2/CPWH call centres ?
Thanks!

No harm in checking with them if they'll let you do this themselves because this flavour of O2 is run by CPW themselves...The thanks button is here to the right. If you find a post saves you money, gives you useful information, or you agree with it, take a second to thank the poster!

Phone customer loyalty - they may well offer you the same deal or better. If you go for a new deal, you could probably keep your number as old contracts are o2 CPW and all new contracts through CPW, as I understand it, are now back to o2 direct (and as a result numbers can be transferred between the 2).

Yes, this is correct - I've just ported my wife from O2 CPW to O2.0
