Quick update. BA have not responded to my complaint ( no surprise there!!) but when my sis checked their booking before returning they were indeed allocated bulkhead seats as promised to me in my call on the day they flew out. My sis said they had plenty of room but unfortunately my bil's tv did not work so they swopped seats half way through. M y sister is going to follow up my complaint tommorow to see what they say. I feel sure this post will once again release all sorts of comments as before but who cares!!
Where did they move seats to?Gone ... or have I?0 -
if i was in customer services you would just receivee a reply saying that we were glad that we were able to facilitate you with bulkhead seats on your return journey but unfortunately this wasn't possible on your outbound journey.
we are unable to guarantee particular seats on any flight as per our terms and conditions
we look forward to you flying with us again in the future blah blah blah0 -

As per my original post they were told they could not check in on line because o his special needs but BA would allocate bulkhead seats as requested. By not allowing them to check in online and not actually allocating the seats they actually created an uneven playing field0 -

Even if they could have checked in online there was no guarantee that they would have been able to get the bulkhead seats due to the number of people trying to get them. Airlines try to allocate these seats as best they can given the number of requests they get for them but the request is never guaranteed until you actually checkin, board the aircraft and are sat in the seat you requested:j Debt free since 31/01/08:j

i think we go round in circles ...he had no right to a bulkhead seat ..it can't be guaranteed.. i can't be bothered to trawl back again but as i remember it they were given 2 seats together on the way out which means that he had support
your whole argument revolves around your opinion that they should have been given two bulkhead seats or upgraded FOC. as i posted many moons ago if you supplied proof that your BiL was at high risk of DVT if he didn't get extra legroom they probably wouldn't have been able to take him unless he booked a suitable class of cabin that gave that legroom
as a matter of interest have they flown anywhere else since your BiL had the stroke and how did the airline manage this issue and by all means name names of airlines.0 -

Exactly ..... opinion dressed up as fact.

Ok. probably wading in way over my head but simply wanted to put in my two pence worth on the issue of whether disabled passengers should be able to expect an upgrade without having paid for it... Yes, I think they should and I don't understand why so many of you find this assumption offensive. An aircraft is a form of public transport and if a disabled passenger needs extra space in order to access public transport then a company should offer it. And at no extra cost. Anything less than this IS discrimination. Of course a disabled passenger that needs extra legroom should have prioirty over frequent flyers. The only reason the disabled passenger isn't a frequent flyer in the first place is because discriminatory and inflexible attitutdes have prevented many of them from flying for so long. BA should follow Eurostars example and give free upgrades to disabled passengers that can demonstrate they would be unable to travel without the upgrade.0
