    Hello
Travelling to Las Vegas from the Uk to New york and then on to las vegas. Does this mean i shouldnt buy anything to bring with me in the Uk Duty Free, will it be taken off me in New york ? Should I wait until i get to New York Duty Free ? should i buy it on the flight instead ? Which flight - uk to N.Y or NY to LAS ?

Think that this has been covered before, you wont be allowed to board an aircraft in Amsterdam with liquids purchased outside of their duty free(unless you are in transit lounge?).
Perhaps you should read this thread as AFAIK if you buy liquids airside at any EU airport you can then take that liquid through any other EU airport security checks AS LONG AS YOU STAY AIRSIDE

Last year we flew JFK-LGW-GLA and I must say I didn't think the duty free in JFK was terribly cheap. We ended up just buying at Glasgow airport when we got off the plane. Same shop as in LGW, same prices, but probably not as great a choice. Depends what you're after I suppose!

When you arrive in NY you will have to collect your luggage, just put your duty frees in the bags before they get reloaded for the next leg.
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

At CDG my wife had a bottle of 18 year Glenfiddich stolen from her by the customs at the transit security point. It was in a sealed bag but as we were travelling from Shanghai it gave them an excuse to take it from her.

I passed through some time later with a bottle of Dewer. The official took a good look at it and didn't think that it had much resale value as it wasn't such a recognisable brand and let me keep it.

Revanche is under consideration for sure.

New 'rules' appear on a daily basis and even the ardent traveller can not keep abreast of them all. In Shanghai I had some hand cleanser taken as it contains alcohol, yet you can buy copious amounts of alcohol it in the shop for the flight.

The terrorists have won, a handful of people have caused billions of pounds worth of inconvenience to hundreds of millions of people.

Deaths through airline terrorism since 2001 = 3000
Death through malaria (3400 per day) = 7000000
Deaths due to cars, guns and knifes (Europe & USA) = 2800000
  • It might be worth noting that KLM are an airline and therefore do not control security at Amsterdam Airport. Security is operated by the airport authority on direction of the countries government.

The simple rule is if you have a connection you must move any liquids over 100ml in to your checked luggage.

I should have remembered about duty free with a connecting UK flight but I forgot.Put it down to exhaustion from delays but I got to gatwick with 2 Litres of vodka bought in Luxor and was stopped at security.Thankfully I was allowed back to easyjet desk where OH and wrapped the bottles in one rucksack inside another and put it through as FRAGILE.We didn't have to pay any extra, the vodka made it intact to Glasgow and we were really grateful to easyjet for being so helpful and kind.:D
