SIM for Texting Without Expiry/Monthly Topup?

Hello Everyone,
First message, hopefully I won't come across as being too stupid!
Is there such a thing as a SIM card which I can buy purely for texting without having to top-up monthly and the text bundle won't expire, or which will last, for example, for a year?
I don't use my phone very much, I'm on pay-as-you, but I have another phone which is unlocked that I would like to use for texting. The amount I text makes PAYG expensive but I don't text enough to justify a monthly top-up.
Thanks for any advice you can offer, much appreciated!

I don't know of any plans personally, but someone else might.
The whole point for the operator is that they have to make their money somehow. When they give away the free texts, they need to recoup the costs elsewhere by making you top up.Dave. :wave:0 -
Thanks Dave, I thought it was a longshot, but always worth a try!0

I don't know of any where the text bundle you buy doesn't expire. How many texts do you use?
O2 do their top up by £10 a month and get 300 texts free (they expire after 30 days if you don't use them all) but you still have your £10 to spend.
T-Mobile do a "text appeal" tariff where texts are 3p to anyone. If this has been of any use please click on THANKS, it makes me look good.0 -
Thanks Alec. Number of texts I send varies so much which is why I was seeing if there was any way of buying a bundle. I'll look into your suggestions. Ta!0

yeah, if you dont want commitment then the text appeal tariff is the best value; 3p texts but 40p a minute calls0 -
Correct, call costs are steep, but as the OP wants it purely for texting the call costs shouldn't be a problem. If this has been of any use please click on THANKS, it makes me look good.0

Looks like the 'text appeal' SIM then. Thanks to all of you for taking the time to reply, much appreciated. Cheers! :beer:0
