I try and spend no more than £10 mon-fri, and allow myself 1 "big" night out a month, and 1 or 2 bottles of wine with friends the other weeks. Over a month probably £30 a week?Compulsive Spendaholic #150

After converting NZ$30 into pounds it equals about 12 pound. I use this to maybe buy a lunch or two if I've had a rushed morning, the odd newspaper, bar of chocolate - just whatever. If there is to be any peace, it will come through being, not having - Henry MillerM.A.C.A.W Member . . Ths is one of the areas I'm tryin to curb & am goin for £20 a week which will mean some cutting back....my spending diary has been reintroduced and is the most powerful tool against unnecessary spends. At the end of the day it depends how much you have to play with! I am currently on day 1 of giving up smoking after realising that I spent over 60 on fags last month...a scary waste of money...Things like mags really add up too and books for me! Just depends where your weaknesses are I guess! Why nt keep a spending diary for a month & then try & cut dow a bit each month - a bit ike the grocery challenge? Paying cash helps focus the mind too if thats any help!Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! Even in the darkest moments, love and hope are always possible.0

At the risk of sounding like a freak - I love my spending diary!!!

When I was in debt I had 50 pounds to live on a week to buy food, toiletries, socialising & misc items. Some weeks I could get away with spending very little, so the money left rolled over to the next week - sometimes meant I could save extra or throw more money at my debts if I spent little during the month.
Old habits die hard though, as even now I dont spend much more than that - its a waste of $$$!0 -
I allow myself about £10 a week, enough for a couple of drinks and a plate of nachoes down the local pub. I've stopped my compulsive spending, usually my money would be gone the day I got it and I got paid fortnightly but now I'm happy to say, I still have money in the bank.0

Heloooo Ms_london! Good to see you stranger. Hows it going?
ssteer thats good! Well done you! I should have said that is my pocket money and my GB is £150 a month on top and then another £100 or so for petrol...so the £20 is for pocket money alone and this is the first month I'm doing it so will try & get it down over time without being obsessive!!Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1!
