Hi there Phoenixchick, just read through your diary and wanted to say well done on all the progress you've made :T

Thought you might be interested in some of the Open University's free learning materials as well - they have a brief introduction to Latin here http://openlearn.open.ac.uk/course/view.php?id=2654 - and all sorts of other interesting stuff, I could spend all day on there! I did their full Latin course a few years back, really enjoyed it (though must admit I've not used it much since, it does come in handy occasionally!)

    Good luck with everything x

    Hi PC,

Have just read all your thread and wish you all the best in everything that you have to do.

Are you moving very far from where you are now? As this will be another change to deal with too and you must make sure that you allow for this emotionally.

Great to hear that your BP is getting better - I had similar issues with a nasty boss at work some 12 months ago and I know how ill that made me feel.

Anyway, will look in again xx

I am also going to try to learn Latin, but rather than doing what I used to do (buying lots of books) I am going to try to do it the DFW way! :T So far I have found a pdf file of a text book through google. As it is out of copyright it is a free download, and it is not as though Latin has changed a great deal since the 1800s. I have also found the brilliant national archives website that has free online courses in beginner and advanced Latin using medieval texts.

I have to go now, my bread is ready - all I have to do is try not to eat it all before OH gets back from work. Tough, because I love fresh baked bread - ooh the smell!

I used to love latin at school but I was considered a language dunce at school and never took it seriously. Now I am (much) older I can see how interesting it was and how useful it is in day to day life and for understanding other languages.
You have inspired me to re-learn!! Thank You. Any links you found I would be very grateful. (PM if you like)

    And Good luck.

Just a quick update: Haven't been on for a while as I have started my new job, along with the monster commute. Trying to keep on top of things as best I can, but I'm not going to be too hard on myself.

The petrol costs don't help, but we can't move yet...hopefully the start of August. So I have 2 more months of commuting. When that stops I will be able to knock off about £300 in petrol!

Updated the figures in my sig. They are starting to look much better. We are now a quarter of the way towards clearing £20k by Christmas. We have also cleared 7 debts in full and there are another 3-4 in reach. We had to pay a big chunk of council tax last month (£500), but we managed to do it without the usual panic and end of month disasters - that makes a nice change.

Quidco is starting to pay out in little bits into my saving account - £37 so far! I also plan to put the contents of my sealed jars into that account.
